Have any of you been to a Zumba class? What do you think? How's the workout?
I've been wanting to try, but I'm always nervous about the "unknown" when it comes to classes.
I am SOO uncoordinated, I could never follow along when it came to step classes and I don't want to look silly
Re: Zumba
I tried it twice and its just not my cup of tea. But, please keep in mind, I only dance when drunk!!! You don't need a ton of coordination (step seems harder to me than zumba as far as a routine goes) and the music is pretty good.
I just am not a "dance-y) type person for my workouts. Its very, very popular though.
Give it a try!
I went pre-pregnancy and I just started a new class yesterday...I love it but I love to dance and I dont care how I look...most instructors will go over the steps and then you put it to the song (although my instructor yesterday- didnt...) there were some parts I didnt catch onto and I just kind of kept moving...
as for the workout I feel it today...my ass is achy...I sweated up a storm...
Give it try- if its not for you...dont go back
I did it with a friend through the city of Saratoga, and while it was fun, not so much a workout. I think the instructor had to cater to all ages and there were a fair amount of old ladies also there getting their groove on.
I do want to try it at my gym, though. It's fun!
I go to Zumba regularly now. I really enjoy the class. I'm certainly not coordinated but I really enjoy it. I sweat when I go and although I'm not going to have major muscles from it, the cardio helps and I've already lost some weight. There's a big age range in the class with me but my instructor told the older women to just try their best to keep up but she wasn't going to slow down for them. My mother goes with me and she's usually 2 steps behind but no one cares and she's still sweating up a storm and loves it too.
And trust me, everyone looks silly doing it but no one cares. I was just saying to a friend the other day if only the guys could see us now, how silly we look doing zumba.
