Re: The day has come....
That's bullshit.
I'm so sorry Tania.
I hope you can find a new job quickly. and hopefully its at a place that understands that due to health issues you need to take time off.
NOT what I was expecting to see.
Was it because of the sick time? I'm sorry

Everybody thinks I should call HR because when I was hired I told the boss that was there then that I had these health issues and they still hired me anyways. One of the guys that works in the warehouse called one of the upper management people and told them that he doesn't think it was right what they did. The upper management guy said that he was going to look into it.
I'm pissed off the most because I bust my ass when I am there to make up for the time that I'm not there. Drew has been so supportive and telling me that it's ok and that he's not mad. He told me that I just have to make him gourmet dinners now. Great.... now I have to cook!! Haha!!!

Hopefully the manager is going to look into it and will find that there was no justification to you losing your job due to health issues and they will offer it back to you.

Geo - How far away are you again?
Amy - I think you might be just a liiiiiiiittle too far. But thanks for the offer!!
Thank you for the support girls. I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about this. Drew thinks I should sue them. He's so dramatic! He definitely thinks I need to call HR and raise a little stink about it.

WHAT????!!!
Write down everything your boss has ever said to you about your absences before you forget it, and try to remember the dates that she said them.
What did she say when she fired you? Do you have any of her comments about your health written down?
I know nothing about IL state disability laws, but if you think you have a federal claim (Americans w/ Disabilities Act), then you have 300 days to file a complaint with your local EEOC, who will investigate the claim. You can't sue in federal court without the EEOC first reviewing it.
So ... that's a long-winded way of saying that, if you think you have a claim, you have less than a year to pursue it. Don't "sleep on your rights" if you want to pursue them.
You're welcome to email me if you don't want to talk about the specifics on the board. rebekistan at gmail dot com

I'm really sorry to see this!
Can you remind me what conversations you had with HR along the way about your condition and the time you were taken? Or were you only having conversations with your manager?
I only had conversations with my manager. I (wrongfully) assumed that she had laid off since she could see that I was persuing fertility treatments and would be (hopefully) fixed soon.
I sat down and had that conversation with her a couple of months ago and basically asked for her understanding during this time. I told her that I was searching for different ways to help "fix" this problem. She basically laughed in my face. The letter that I received firing me states my reason for termination as "lack of dependability - attendance issue". The letter came from our HR guy, not signed. I question if she actually told the truth to them about my absences. Especially based on the reason explaination. I would think that an HR person would understand that you can't necessarily fire somebody over a health issue. Andplusalso, with me charting, once I ovulate, I can tell somebody, basically to the day, when I'm going to get my period. So, I can warn them before the fact. Which I usually did in a tactful way.
