So this past weekend my uterus started Screaming again. I am a Massage Therapist, and over the weekend took a Nurturing the Mother class. We covered anything and everything about pregnancy and massage before, during, and after. I really have been enthralled with homebirth since we talked so much about it. If you are pregnant or are planning to have a baby I truly suggest you watch "The Business of Being Born" Its a documentary produced by Ricki Lake. I found it on YouTube however it came in 10 segments.
Did you know that in NC legally a midwife cannot assist you during a homebirth. If it is a "spontaneous" birth ( such as: she just happened to be over for tea and oops Mom goes into labor.) or she must be assisted by an OB still practicing OB. Personally I believe laws should be changed here. Virginia, Tennessee, and South Carolina all allow Midwives to assist in homebirths. But its all a money racket here in NC.
This pisses me off. I truly want a homebirth. But can't find anyone or anywhere close to do it. The money aspect is huge, But the only Midwives I find are in hospitals and birth centers located in Chapel Hill. I am located FAR NORTH. Like Stokes County.
So my question is who used a midwife and if you could go back would you change it? Or maybe you had a hospital birth and you wish you could have had a midwife please I really want to know opinions here. Where do I go since it is obviously illegal for the midwife to help birth my future-child.
