and found out it was canceled! seriously! Apparently the roads in part of the town I teach in are flooding, and a few of the schools are flooding, so they canceled school for the kids. At 10:30 the call came in that staff could go home as well!
It's suppose to rain all weekend and next week as well, so who knows what's going to happen next week!
Meanwhile, I stayed until 11:30 cleaning my classroom and now I get to clean my house!
What a weird Friday....
Re: Showed up to school...
I loooove when school gets cancelled! (Well, I used to, when I had a job...)
But you have to wait for a phone call telling you that you can leave? That's weird...here, if school is cancelled, it's just cancelled. Teachers don't have to be there. If you already got there without knowing it was cancelled, you're just allowed to leave.

Wish I could leave early!!!
ditto!
Yeah, that's it... get stuff done... or find out who the baby's daddy is on Maury!
Hell, it's not like our county ever cancels school anyway!! It's always the last to show up for snow days! Not that it really matters for me, but still.
I have to show up for work, rain, snow, ice, hurricane, nuclear disaster, whatever. :-/
But yay for a day off Megan!! Did you find out about that baby daddy on Maury??
You've heard what I've done, not what I've been through.
If you were in my shoes, you'd fall the first step."
