Politics leads to Flame free Friday.
So my mothers boss is a friend of Paladino. I had heard some scary things about him and then the whole bit with Fred Dicker on yesterdays news just solidified my feelings for him. I don't care that he's my mothers bosses friend, he's crazy! To tell someone you are going to take them out on camera when you are running for governor is bad politics. Not that I'm a fan of Fred Dicker either. Paladino just sounds like a mob boss on camera and that's not someone I want running our state.
So I sent my mother the link to the video, which she had apparently already seen and now she's mad at me because I said he's crazy! She just keeps telling me that Cuomo is relying on his name. She keeps sending me messages and texts about him. She won't let it go and she certainly won't change my mind.

Yup - same here. I tried to tell her that she has many teachers in her family and that Democrats tend to side with the teachers unions while Republicans tend to vote against them (at least in NY) I have articles showing how all the senators have voted in the last few years on education bills to prove this point but she doesn't seem to care about that. She only hears what she wants to hear and that's not just with politics.
My dad is the same way. The man is a walking Fox News ad. We can not talk politics at all- it just gets ugly. He used to include me in all his mass email forwards related to politics but quickly learned that I would use actual facts to debunk the crap he was sending out (and I would reply to all- I don't think it's fair that his friends only got to hear one side of the story- yup, I'm evil!). Of course, he is a huge Paladino fan so I bite my tongue whenever he is mentioned.
Yeah Fox News is evil lol. I stopped responding to her emails and texts - hoping she gets the message that she will not sway my opinion and drop the subject.
My parents are away this weekend and my sister took their Paladino sign off their front lawn. I'm sure I'm going to get blamed for it but I can honestly say it wasn't me lol.
My mom too! The whole no birth certificate, mob ties, obama and bin laden are working together etc. type stuff. Crazy! She finally stopped sending me that stuff once Obama took office - since it was too late to change peoples votes.
I think that most politicians are shady to begin with. They tell false promises to get elected or just bold faced lies. I'm not a fan.
