Laundry Issue

Hello!

I was wondering if any of you have ever had an issue with musty smelling clothes after they have been washed. When I switched to Tide with Downy, my clothes smelled great for the first load, but then after that, my clothes started smelling really gross.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem?

TIA!

Re: Laundry Issue

  • How long are you letting the clothes sit before you dry them? That can cause a musty smell. I keep the washer open after I use it and keep it open all the time to air it out. I also run the wash with soap but no clothes to wash the washer every now and then.

  • I had this problem with my towels before, but now I use vinegar and it has taken care of the musty smell.  I have a front loading washer so I add my soap as usual and just fill the fabric softener compartment with vinegar.  Also, as the pp mentioned it is good to leave your washer door open when not in use, so it can dry out alittle.
  • Thanks girls! I'm running my washing machine with soap and vinegar right now, keeping my fingers crossed that my next load doesn't stink! I usually take my clothes out right away so it has just had me baffled for a while.
