I had a lot of fun this weekend! I know that a few of you have been...it was not at all like I was expecting! I think that I need to go back whenever I have someone with me that's been a few times. Most of the stuff the ladies went through was very crafty...(yard signs, halloween/Christmas decor, silk arrangements, personalized ornaments, etc.) but it was still all really cool stuff! I want to go pick through all of the "trash"...and re-purpose it as home decor. Maybe next time.
I did find some antique things...one of my cool finds is a huge bird house that I plan on putting in my house somewhere. See picture below:

We went to the Allen Outlets and they were amazing! I found some really cool stuff. I wish we would have been going a month from now, because their True Religion outlet would have been open! I'm pretty set on jeans for fall, but I could have scored something at least.
I got Bentley a bunch of adorable long sleeved polos from the Ralph Lauren Kids store--all very cute. Loved the Coach outlet (I got a couple of gifts for Christmas) and the Lacoste, Ralph Lauren, GAP, Nike, Guess?...it was definitely worth the trip!
Watter's Creek was our next stop...three miles from the Allen outlets. It was such a cool community/shopping area! There were six or seven restaurants--all really nice--and tons of more upscale shopping. (Not like Gucci and Prada, but more like one of a kind boutique type things.) My favorite store was Apricot Lane--very trendy stuff and very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend Watter's Creek!
Re: Canton, TX
Very interesting - I heard of Canton, Texas for the first time this weekend - we plan to go back to Dallas in a few months to stay with our friends and hit up the flea markets. I am pretty excited.
Was all the stuff really antique-y or do you think a modern decorator could find cool stuff there? Anything Affair of the Heart-like is my worst nightmare so I try to avoid those types of places like the plague!
A lot of it was very crafty. (Think multiple booths with cutesy yard signs that say It's Fall Y'all!) However, if you really start digging and go to the outdoor booths, there are a lot of antiques, architectural pieces, repurposed "trash"...like my bird house. It's just made from random sh!t that the lady got off of old furniture, door knobs, etc.
I think it's worth it if you know what you're looking for. I went specifically for that bird house--my mom brought home two last year and so I knew that's what I wanted. That was the only thing I bought at Canton. I'll go back with my grandparents some day to pick through all of the randoms that people bring that aren't really worth much to most people that go there.
I love, love, love Canton! And no, it's not all crafty stuff. They have everything from furniture, home decor, trash, antiques, modern stuff, dip/soup mixes.. even an animal section. I always find some great stuff when I go there!
Sounds like you had a great time! I'm jealous.

Sounds like a great trip! I've always wanted to visit Canton, heard so many fun things about browsing through all the items.
LOVE the Allen Outlet Mall. About the only thing I miss about the McKinney area. Look forward to the day when OKC gets an outlet store someplace. I was able to watch the Watters Creek area become developed, but never went once complete. Might have to stop the next time we're down that way.
I'm jealous. Need to schedule me a weekend shopping trip down there!
Good news! There's currently an outlet mall being built in OKC at I-40 and Council. It's scheduled to open August, 2011.

Is that right? What's going in, do you know?
OH!! There are some junkers, but there is a Converse outlet in there! Those are my favorite shoes ever - I swear I'll be one of those 80-year-olds running around in them. I'm happy about the Banana outlet, too!
