Lurker..with a Laundry Question and Musty Closet

Hello everyone! I know this board is a wealth of knowledge. I haven't seen any resent posts about these so here goes.

DH got some of my whites dingy on laundry day.

1. How can I get my dingy whites bright again?

We also have a bathroom with a walk in closet and no windows that open.

2. How do we get rid of the musty closet smell and not some nasty cover-up?

TIA

Re: Lurker..with a Laundry Question and Musty Closet

  • For the laundry, try re-washing them with a little bleach w/ warm or hot water.

For the musty closet smell, I open a small box of baking soda and sit it in the closet.  It absorbs odors and doesn't have an odor on it own. You could put more than one in there, sprinkle it on the carpet, or pour it in a bowl.  My H lived in an apt and the previous owners must've have put a litter box in the closet bc it stunk, and the baking soda killed the odor.

    Good luck!
