I'm sorry everything in our apartment is breaking (even the rat), but it's your responsibility. I emailed you before 10am that we have no heat and you haven't responded. I know you have a BB, and today has been the coldest yet.

I emailed this morning, DH texted him later this afternoon, and I just called and left a message. Our apt is about 66 degrees. The heat only blows cold air, it's better if it's just turned off. I don't even know what to do at this point. We might need to run to home depot and get a space heater.

You guys seriously need to move! HAHA You always have crazy sh!t going on in that place and a landlord that doesn't seem to think that ANYTHING is urgent. Grrr.

I know... it sucks. We just moved in mid-July!! The person who moved in upstairs in Sept is also having issues (broken dryer, ADT alarm kept going off which isn't even hooked up). I feel like we're counting down until we can move. The location is great, but the place kinda sucks. We're saving a bit of money at least (compared to the other places we looked at). We're considering buying our next place... at least sh!t would get done!

You have rights too! My friend was living somewhere with a crappy landlord and she contacted the city. She continued to pay rent, but it went to the city and they held it until her place was how it should be. They have have something like this where you live.. unless you live IN Chicago.. it could be more difficult in a big city. But a suburb should have something!

I'm in Chicago.

The landlord emailed me back that he'll be by tonight after 7:30 pm. We're not sure if he's mad at us or not even though it's not our fault the place is falling apart around us.

Go over your rental agreement again. The last place we rented had a stipulation in it saying that if the heat/air goes out for x amount of time, then they would take money off that month's rent.

I'm pretty sure was a standard lease, nothing special. I should look at it again...
