We had a great time, Davis loved the waterpark, we visited it twice Saturday for about 2 hours each time. He loved the wave pool, the kiddie slides and the lazy river.
What we didn't love: the fact that people ran rampant all night long, now, it was a weekend so we expected the place to be crowded, but they have a quiet time rule that starts at 10 p.m., apparently it isn't enforced, we didn't expect the people above us to party all night, for people to let their kids run the halls till all hours, the people next to us to get into a huge fight, people running around wild in the parking lot all night (our room faced the giant lot), car alarms going off constantly all night long, a worker banging at our door at 12 a.m. to bring us pillows that we didn't request, the TV was out all weekend, the staff was less than stellar - they were all clueless as hell. I did call the front desk after the fighting next door escalated after an hour, they said they'd send security, either they did and nobody listened or they didn't send anyone, it went on for over 2 hours. It was a couple, had we not had a baby I'd have found it funny, but it wasn't funny because Davis ended up waking up at 2 a.m. due to the excessive noise, Jeff and I never did sleep because of all the interruptions, so we ended up packing up around 4:30 a.m. and heading out about 5 a.m. since we live so close we figured we'd just get home because we knew Davis would sleep here. I was disappointed we didn't get to enjoy the park one last time in the morning but oh well.
When we left yesterday morning I loved that all the doors around us had thrown their beer cans out into the hallway, interesting. I guess their trash cans were full?? or they were drinking in the halls!! haha
Would we go back? Yes
Would we go back on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday? HELL to the NO!!!
And we would for sure request a room that doesn't face the parking lot.
If our entire stay hadn't been free the front desk would have gotten an earful from me when we checked out.
But it was nice and Davis loved the waterpark and we loved enjoying the water park with him. He is fearless, which is kinda scary.
Re: my kalahari review
Also, I imagine it sucked on a weekend. We went on a Mon/Tues during the summer.
When we went to Ft. Rapids in Columbus (Sun/Mon) it was insane until about 4pm on Sunday and then the park was ours. In fact we were the only ones in the restaurant for dinner that evening.
YES!! They enforce this big time. They walk around with sticks and if they see a kid under 48" they kick them out of wherever they are until they put one on. I cannot tell you how many times I saw kids and parents get told they couldn't come back in until they had one on. They make a pretty big deal out of the issue, I guess this is because last year a kid drowned and died, apparently it used to not be required and now it is.
They have oodles of jackets available in all sizes though. We never had an issue getting one for Davis and he was fine wearing one. In fact, even if they didn't require it I still would have had him wear one.
I think we hit a really busy weekend. There was some sort of prom or homecoming dance going on because teenagers were all over the place in prom dresses and suits. I think there was also a wedding. And where we were at for my husbands thing in the a.m. was the convention center which appeared to be full as well, so I think there were several groups.
Oh and we saw several youth baseball teams come in that afternoon too.
You will have fun though Kel. But do yourself a favor and I am serious. Call and request a room not on the parking lot side. Even if it isn't busy this weekend, the lights out there are very bright and there is a big pond with ducks that quack all night, LOL.
Glad overall you had fun.
When we stayed, there were these damn kids using a bouncy ball and it kept going back and forth back and forth....it was so annoying. This was around 2am. I finally had to call and complain.
Even in the toddler area? When we went a few months ago, they never made them wear it in the toddler area, just the wave area. And we actually took B and C in the small pool where the basketball hoops are and they didn't make them where it in there.
MC - yes, even in the 6 inch water toddler area, maybe they were really enforcing it because it was so busy, IDK. But I saw them tell at least 5 different parents while we were in the toddler area to put lifejackets on their kids before they'd let them back in.
I read that also that you must have a lifejacket on or you can't swim. I plan on bringing A's puddle jumper since it is Coast Guard approved. I will call tomorrow and request a room away from the parking lot.
