Dog Problem, WWYD?
A couple of weeks ago my neighbors got a new dog. Since then the poor guy has practically lived on their balcony all day and even all night sometimes. This is Phoenix and it's been 105+ every day. Poor thing. So right there I feel bad for him.
But it's also been a problem for us. When they leave it whines and whines and whines... and they go to work between 6 and 8AM. The Boy and I are usually still in bed until at least 9... or try to be. Since the neighbors got a dog we've up when they leave for work because he wakes us up.
Then when they're there they still keep him outside and he sits there and barks and barks and barks at their door. I'll hear him (the neighbor) open the door and tell the dog to stop barking, and then close the door. A few minutes later, the barking continues.
I'm going NUTS here! I can't sleep the normal hours I used to and it's really hard for me to sit here and listen to this poor dog bark and whine and be sad all day. I've been thinking of either volunteering to watch him in my house during the day, complaining to the neighbors, or complaining to the apartment complex. I can teach them to crate train in their home in a matter of days and that dog would be happy and comfortable indoors when they're not home. But I also don't want my neighbors getting all pissy. I know Boo whines and cries for about 5-10 minutes when we leave (yes, I've sat outside and listened), but he's also inside and stops after a while, but I know if they're the type of people to get pissy they'll use this against us.

I know a lot of the pesties that live in warmer climates have complained of the same thing. The problem is that as long as the dog has shelter (a roof), water and/or food then it's fine. You can call Animal control, but sadly they probably won't be able to do much.
Or you can complain to your leasing office and they may do something.
I hope for your sake it ends soon.
Ugh I know exactly how you feel Jaye. LIke pp says I would just speak to the management. Not quite the same situation, but when we were having problems with our loud music neighbor, the only way we got it to stop was to call the cops or speak to the landlord. Talking to her directly didn't work as she tried to use our noise against us as well.
I would definitely not offer to help. It's a very sweet gesture, but if they take you up on it, what's to stop them from taking advantage of it.
