Have you tried using just dishsoap and warm water and then dry with a towel? The wood cleaners (especially Murphy's, Pledge, Swiffer dust and shine, etc) are probably leaving an oily residue which will leave paw prints when the cat walks on it.
My cat likes to walk around on our wood coffee table and he leaves little paw prints if he just cleaned his pads before he jumped up. I just use dishsoap and water on a sponge and they wipe right off and then I just dry the table with a dry towel when I'm done. I've learned not to use wood polish on flat surfaces that our cat likes... they just get dry dusted.
