Is this really not clear?

I created and mailed the invites for SIL's baby shower.

It says "Please RSVP by October 9 to (xxx) xxx-xxxx or amyclastname@gmail.com.

I just received a voicemail from an invited guest who claims she wasn't sure who she was supposed to call/rsvp to.

Is it that out of reach to know she's rsvping to AMY?

Re: Is this really not clear?

  • Only thing I can think of is that maybe she didn't know for sure if the phone number was for Amy as well.  I've often seen it written as 'Please respond to Jane at ### or janesmith@email.com".  Maybe she didn't know for sure that there weren't two shower planners.  That's all I can think of, I'd have thought it was the same person if I got that invite...but just in case might have left on the VM, "I think this message is for Amy, this is ___ RSVPing about SILs shower...".

  • Ha, maybe. But I'm also pretty sure my vm greeting has my name. Well, at least I have to give credit for this woman rsvping (negatively at that). With 5 days left, I have about 20 outstanding guests to freakin' respond. Whatever happened to people's manners?

  • How quickly you forget that people don't RSVP! ;)
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

No doubt! Comparatively the wedding RSVPs poured in. :-/

  • Yeah, that's a little strange. If I had a question about it at all, I would just say "Hi, this is Colette, I'm calling about Amy's SIL's shower..." (I also respond that way when I'm not sure how to pronounce the host's name -- someone still needs to explain to me how Jayaine is pronounced "Jane").

  • I would too!

And omg - Jayaine?? That's, uh... interesting.

That was my thinking...whether she knew who she was calling or notWink, kudos to her for calling.

  • I would have thought it was pretty straight forward but the others are right... at least she called.  When I did my sister's shower last year, I got 4 responses out of 37 people.  I dont understand why people dont rsvp to showers when it says to rsvp right on the invite.  So annoying.
