Work RANT!!!

Sorry, but I just had to vent.

Back at the start of September there was a Huge earthquake in my home town and I asked my boss if I could fly home and see my family and check out the damage to my houses.  I asked for one day off, just one.  She said no because one other person was off on annual leave at the time.  But not before saying that she realised that there would be a time limit on claiming for the damage done by the earthquake and also saying that aftershocks hardly ever happen (they have had over 1300 aftershocks), and giving me a big lecture on only one person being out of the office at a time.

Anyway, I sucked it up.  But then I come to work today and notice that two people are having this Friday off.  One to go to a wedding and one to visit her aunt a couple of towns away.

NOT FAIR!!!!  And Then I get an email from my property management company from home saying my HWS is leaking, and it's probably from earthquake damage.  RAHH!!!!!!!

Re: Work RANT!!!

  • Wth! Well can she gove you a different day off. And if its ok for two people to take off on a FRIDAY how come you can't for something as important as this.

  • WOW, sounds like you are working for a heartless B**** How bad would it be to mention the two off Friday to her? I don't mean storming to her office and calling her names, but diplomatically mentioning that you were disappointed to see she let two people off on Friday for trivial reasons, while she did not let you go for something that could turn out to be a huge liability to you.
  • Noooo waaayyy.  I am not even going to mention it to her.  I'm just going to let it fester inside me while looking for another job that will pay me way more money.  (dream on)

She isn't heartless, just like most bosses sometimes forgets what's important to people.
