Temperatures

What do you keep you're thermostat set to in Fall/Winter?

Raynes post below about her house being 58 this morning got me thinking, that though that seems cold, we have the house set (when it's on) to 68F.

Re: Temperatures

  • I think we keep the thermostat set at 18?C (64?F) and might occasionally bump it up to 19 (66) or 19.5 (67).

Generally out bedroom is at 16-17?C (61-63?F).

Hopefully all of the extra insulation we added to the main floor this summer will help keep the heat in.

  • I usually have mine set to 20c. Our house was built in the 50's though and it's pretty drafty.

  • We keep ours set around 65 and bump it up to 70 if we're having guests over. I have no problem whipping out comforters in my living room. Thankfully, we have baseboard hot water heat, and our windows strategically let a ton of sun in for natural warmth. I get nervous to think what another house would cost us to heat, since ours pretty much bakes itself now.

  • We generally keep it set around 68. But I don't usually turn it on until it stays consistently cold outside. Our house was around 60 this morning, but I just carried the space heater around with me, because I refuse to turn the heat on yet.
  • We keep ours set to about 72 when we're home, 65 when we're not, and 65 when we're sleeping.  We use our fireplace all the time though, so the heat rarely kicks on.

  • I want to share this post with my mom. Gla to see everyone else is like us. I keep our house at 68 and that is comfortable to us. She thinks it is too cool. When we are not home I have it set around 65. I have no problem throwing on a sweatshirt. I try not to use the heat until November. I hate paying the bill.
  • Cooling is more of a problem than heating for us...  We keep our house cold, and that's what runs our bill up.  67 or 68 F, year round.  I love cuddling up in quilts. :)  We don't have to use the heat until well into November, sometimes even December... and even then we don't have to use it every day... The weather fluctuates a lot.
