My neighbor's new house paint

can only be described as brorange.

Do, you know what else is brorange?

Flypaper.

Re: My neighbor's new house paint

  • There's a house near me with orange SIDING. And black shutters.

That sounds like Winged's dream house.

  • No. It certainly is not.

  • So far, none of my close neighbors have painted any weirdo colours, however there's far too much mint greet and banana yellow around the corner.  It's Ontario.  get on board with our dull non-descript colours.

  • Do we have the same neighbor? Mine just spent a week stripping and sanding the paint from their shingles only to paint the whole house the color of something you'd expect to see in a diaper.
  • There's a house by the park that I've seen people working on for the past month or so.  I'm not sure what on earth was taking them so long to paint -- maybe there was some lead paint or asbestos that needed to be dealt with -- but I think they may have finally finished.  I thought they were painting it sort of a light blue, but apparently they covered that up with a color I can only describe as Primer.

I hope it really is just primer and they intend to finish painting it because it's the dullest, ugliest color.

  • This is one good thing about Home Owner Associations.  No one can paint their house the color of fly paper.

We have one but it is pretty lose. And I prefer that honestly to people who dictate everything about your house.

  • I once volunteered to paint a poor elderly woman's house.  We spent hours scraping off mint chocolate chip ice cream green only to open the cans to find chocolate chip ice cream green.  So disheartening.

  • Fallin -- you just described the color of my house.  It's breathtaking.

I would rather live next to a day glo rainbow painted house than have a homeowners association telling people what color they can paint their own property.

    Me, three.

  • Pretty much every community in socal has an HOA unless its a much older are such as Anaheim.  Ours is pretty lax but they do have a list of colors you must choose from when painting your house, but it's a long list.  I like our HOA because they take good care of the common areas, pools and parks.
