ours was insanely busy!
you may remember me posting a few weeks ago about the friend of ours who has been crashing with us since May.
well, he was planning to move out at the end of october with another friend (who is also unemployed) but there was some financial drama with that friend and it just wasn't sounding like a good idea.
after some conversation, lars and i decided to offer to finish off the 4th bedroom down in our basement and rent it to him for $350 a month. i actually thought he'd decline because i would think living with a family wouldn't be nearly as fun as living with another guy his age but *shrug* what do i know?
so, lars and i spent 13 hours yesterday shifting/cleaning everything in our basement in preparation for the construction of the bedroom. i thought you might enjoy a visual. ![]()

all in all, it's great because we also did it with the mindset that we'd have to do this anyway when we stage the house to put it on the market next year but still, it was a LOT of work!
our housemate helped out a ton with hauling stuff to the garage, lifting/carrying heavy stuff with lars and said thank you about 20 times. he's also giving us 9 months rent up front so we'll put that toward the construction of his living space.
all in all, i think it will work out well. i do want to draw up a semi-formal rental/roommate agreement so i'm wondering if anyone has something generic that i could customize.
i also painted a wall in our front room this weekend. it was a busy one!
how were your weekends?
Re: how were your weekends?
Wow! You were busy!
My weekend was very low key. I'm fighting a cold so I didn't do too much. On Sat I went to a craft fair with my mom for a bit and DH and I went and saw The Social Network Sat night. I stayed in my pjs all day yesterday. I just want this darn cold to go away!

Super fun except for the 30 minutes that I spent throwing up in the bushes outside of a bar. Ohhhh to be over 30 and still unable to judge my alcohol tolerance....

Sounds exciting, plus bonus you are getting rent $!
We went to the Walker Art Museum and Sculpture Garden on Saturday, good times.
Saturday night I had waaaayyyy to much wine with our very late dinner. Ended up getting puking drunk (haven't done this in about a year- oops) and spent most of yesterday being hungover- which was really frustrating. I had a ton to do and only felt up to about half of it. Oh well. Just makes for busy nights tonight and tomorrow.
Sounds like we both had 'fun' puking our guts out.
I love your little floorplan Lily :-)
Friday DH planned a birthday dinner at Thanh Do and he invited some friends to come too which was a lovely surprise!! :-)
Sunday my dad and I went out to look at some houses on the Remodeler's Showcase and it was super fun!!
We dogsat this weekend for our friend's dog (an 8 month old golden/poodle mix) who is a bit ca-razy!! She's super sweet but HYPER and gets into everything so you have to constantly watch her!! It was fun having her but it was nice to send her home again yesterday :-)
This coming week I'll be singing. A LOT. My choir is preparing for some upcoming performances and we rehearse every night but Wednesday for 3 hours! It'll be a lot but I'm so excited!!!!! :-) ????

Mmmm Thanh Do. We had take out last week. Never fails to be delicious.
My weekend was pretty lame (no puking!) in comparison. I was in bed early on Saturday for the TC 10 mile on Sunday. It was a blast and I did way better then I planned. It was so awesome to have my family there, too.

Friday- DD and I went to lunch with a friend and then in the evening I went out with a friend to a 'girls night out' comedy event at Pepitos/Parkway Theater.
Saturday- out to lunch with dh and dd and then an awesome long nap in the afternoon. Awesome lazy Saturday.
Sunday- church, lunch with a friend, and then met some bumpies for a playdate.
Lily- Dh and I cooked these black bean burritos last night. It's the 2nd time we've had them this week. They are so delicious! We added roasted corn and dh added a little ground beef to his. Do you make any changes to yours? We add a little salsa too. Might try adding a sauce over the top and baking but not sure how that would work with the cream cheese. I do love them though!

Friday - stayed in, cleaning, laundry
Saturday - U of M Homecoming and the game, the new Blarney basement after the game (our friends did the work, it is fantastic!), laundry, cleaning, picking up dog poop
Sunday - woke up to DH tearing down the drop ceiling in the basement, installed new outdoor lighting, replaced a few other light fixtures, mowed the lawn, planted 45 bulbs (I still have about 175 to go, phew... that's a lot of digging!)
Le sigh, we were putting off the basement for a few more years but DH just got sick and tired of it. So I'm off calling electrician for quotes for a few things in the basement this week. If DH doesn't do more himself, I will end up spray painting the ceiling white and calling it "remodeled." HAHA.

Not terribly busy but a lot of shopping and hunting things down at the mall and various other store - which is exhausting - and frustrating because I kept finding other things I liked but since they weren't on my list of MUST GET/NEED, I had to pass.
Friday - finally got some down-time with DH to just relax at home. His parents left of Thursday (things went pretty well with them - but I was still eager to see them gone) - so we haven't really had any time to just chill in weeks.
Saturday - Took DH shopping for some nice shirts for CA (we are going to my brother's engagement party while out there) and then did some shopping for myself - only to find nothing for me but more for DH. Saturday night - DH took a nap - he thinks he is getting sick (booo!) - and then practiced for a rehearsal he had on Sunday. I researched various CA things and ordered a bunch of gifts online (for brother's engagement and for ILs as a "thank you").
Sunday - More shopping - on the hunt for the perfect purple sweater to wear with a dress I bought. Plus looking for shoes and a nice garment bag. Found several sweaters that were close enough and a nice garment bag majorly on sale (yay!). Decided I had enough shoes and could make something work without buying more.
Sent you a PM about the lease agreement.
DH and I left Nashville about 9am Friday morning to head back to MN. We ended up stuck in Chicago rush hour and then construction traffic on ($ by Maple Grove. We only stopped 3 times in 16 hours and ddn't get home until 1am. It sucked. Coming home from vacation sucked.
Saturday we slept in and just hung out at home relaxing.
Yesterday we returned to the land of the living. Grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry, cooking...
i saw that. THANK YOU! and that drive? oy... sucktastic.
Wow Strength, busy weekend! But collecting rent money will be a good thing!
My weekend was ok. I am working 7 days a week now until the election is over, so life is really boring and consumed completely by work activities. However, on Saturday I did go see "You Again" with my mom and sister, and Sunday I went to Keys Cafe for breakfast with DH, and I honestly had the BEST. TIME. EVER. just getting away from the office. I will tell you one thing, this job has really helped me to appreciate the simple things!

It was pretty relaxed, but fast!
Friday night I had a raging headache and went to bed early.
Saturday we ran some errands, went to a grad party for a family friend and then watched tv the rest of the night.
Sunday Ellie and I went to breakfast w/ my family, then we went to a bump playdate and then ran some errands.

We had a half good half bad weekend
Saturday was wonderful we all slept in a bit, then went to breakfast, drove to see some fall leaves and went to the apple orchard. Then DH and I went out on a date to lunch and say Toy Story 3. Then we went out to dinner with friends followed by watching the Hawkeyes game.
Sunday LO wasn't feel too well, we laid low and dealt with a crabby/whiny baby all day.
Well, I turned 30 on Friday.....so it was a fabulous weekend full of birthday-goodness!
The H and I already had plans to use our birthday gifts from his grandparents for dinner (His birthday was on the 26th), so my parents tagged along. Two perfect margaritas later, I was home and in bed by 10 pm.
Friday-My parents showed up and surprised me at school with cupcakes for my class! I was expecting them on Friday, so I was so happy to see them on my actual birthday, I cried!
Saturday--Since my parents were up, we spent the day shopping at garage sales and retail stores! I spent my birthday money on a cute outfit from Dress Barn. Saturday night, I went out to dinner with 22 of my favorite friends and family. Despite a glitch in the reservations (part my fault, part dumb policy from the restaurant), we were still able to enjoy dinner and drinks at Red Lobster. I had toooooo many Malibu Hurricanes, but they were SO GOOD! A few of the hardcore group walked across the parking lot to BBWs for more beverages!
Sunday--Slept in, My mom made omelettes for breakfast before she left, and napping! I did hit up the grocery store for the week's groceries and watched Desperate Housewives and Sister Wives.
Baby Boy born 5.3.15
I volunteered on Saturday and brought home a foster dog (see sig) she's crazy-neurotic, and needs some serious lovin, but we're confident we can help her out.
saturday night was my sister's bachelorette party/shower and it was fun. Sunday we cleaned and hung out with the pups.
Friday night: We went to our favorite restaurant: Phil's Tara Hideaway to celebrate my new job! Then we went to a friend's b-day party.
Saturday: Went to a Twins game and saw a fantastic game!
Sunday: DH crewed for Aamodt's hot air balloons. I went to church and then we got things done around the house and worked on the shed we are building.
The weekend pretty much revolved around the babies.
-built the second crib while watching the Iowa football game
-got a free glider from my mom's coworker and mattresses from my sis and her boyfriend
-bought a double stroller (joy - I used to make fun of those damn things)
-bought DH some new headphones for work
-made meatloaf for the dog from my Katie K9 cookbook
-studied for Thursday's bio test
My weekend was pretty good.
Friday Night: Date night with my hubby. We went to the Lions Tap. It was good.
Saturday: Went to the MOA with my best friend. Since we found out we are having a girl, she bought baby this: http://tiny.cc/x8lkk and we had dinner at Napa Valley Grill.
Sunday: We celebrated my 30th birthday (ugh.) with my family and we brought dessert. We ended up making cupcakes filled with pink frosting- so when everyone bit into theirs, they would find out the sex of our baby. It was a fun little way of telling my family.
