BBT Thermometer

As you ladies know I went off of BC and I've been taking my temperature in the mornings. I am just using a general thermometer, should I be using a BBT thermometer?

Re: BBT Thermometer

  • I liked to use one for the accuracy of it. I have this one and was happy with it, it is still working 3 years later!

  • A BBT will measure out an extra degree which is pretty valuable information when trying to estimate ovulation.  I have a Rite Aid brand BBT, the battery died on it after only 2 months, so I wouldn't recommend it. But you should be able to find them anywhere for $10 or so.

  • i've been kind of a lazy charter. i need to do better.
  • Yep, definitely get a BBT.  If I remember correctly, a BBT measures by 10ths of degrees and fever thermometers measure in two-tenth degree increments.... so it's not as accurate.

  • honestly, I am not convinced you need a bbt. I have been using a regular thermometer and I am able to detect ovulation with it. Mine measures to .1 with a +/- .2 error rate.
