POLL: What do you live in?

I saw that one of the nesties painted her kitchen over the weekend, and strangly DH and I did too!

Which prompted me to ask....where is everyone living?

And for those ladies who have only moved in with their DH since they got married, how is it all going?

Re: POLL: What do you live in?

  • DH and I did not live together before the wedding, and I have to say the transition to living together in a 1 bedroom apartment has been much easier than I expected. We're hoping to either move into a larger apartment or buy a townhouse/condo next year.

  • We have lived together for over 3 years now.  We rent a 2 br/ 1 ba apartment right now and it is great!  For the first two years we lived together, we lived in a 1 br. loft.  The bedroom was upstairs, so besides the bathroom, there weren't any walls or doors!  That was a great way to know that we could easily live together!

  • We are renting and saving money that way. Moved out of the city to the burbs. We would love to own a house, but not in NY.  Houses in our area are all old (like 40-100 years) and land is tiny.  We would love to move to Atlanta one day, but not yet. Maybe anohther year or two.  When that happens, we will buy :)

Ewww, I don't think I could handle that.

Haha, yay!  How'd it turn out?!  We LOVE our kitchen now.

And DH and I own our home, and every mortgage check I write out reminds me of this.  Haha, but I am so proud that we accomplished this at such a young age, and I love making our house really ours.

  • After we got married, I moved into the house that DH owns. While we were engaged, I was renting in DC (an hour south of where we now live together). I was a little nervous about how the transition would be, but I've LOVED finally living together :)

     Wow.  That's impressive!

DH and I bought our house 11 months before our wedding, so it made financial sense for us to move in together.  I do wish we could have either a) gotten married a year earlier, or b) had the cash to wait.  Perhaps then I wouldn't have been such a whore (thanks, Grandma....)

Oh, well.  The house was exactly in the neighborhood where we were dying to live (double lot!!!!) and a dirt cheap forclosure.  Double score.

I am waiting to see some of your photos!!  We went all out and painted everything, so at the moment I can't use Anything, and have to wait another week until I can use the bench.

It's awesome being able to do what we want with a house.  Even though the mortgage payments bleed me dry.

  • DH and I bought a townhouse back in April. He moved in shortly after closing and I moved in a week before the wedding. Things having been going really well so far. He is doing a great job doing his side of the chores :)

  • Me and DH have been living together for three years. We spent the first two years in an apartment with roommates. And this last year we moved into a duplex, with just us. At some point down the road we will buy a house but we're not quite ready. I dont want to buy until we are ready to settle down and have kids. We still have some moving to do, due to grad school. And DH wants to do some travel nursing.

  • We just moved in together for the first time and it's going pretty good. We just moved to this city so we are renting and trying to figure out which parts of town we like or don't like, we both want to buy a house but we are both snobs and want to wait to be able to buy a house that we both really want. So we will probably wait a couple more years until we have a really good down payment to consider buying a house.

I'll put some pics up after this weekend (hopefully).  I need to do some touch ups and paint the white molding before I'm ready to reveal my newly painted kitchen to the world.  But if all goes well, I will get some up by Monday!

It really was fine.  We had about 600 sq. feet total.  We had pretty much lived together before that, so even then, there weren't any surprises.  It was a good experience though.

  •  We dated for about a year and half when I moved to the city he lived in.  I stayed between my parents and his apartment for about 5 months and then I bought a house and he moved in. We've lived together for about 3 years. we love living together!

  • I bought my house 4 months before meeting DH, and he began moving in near the end of engagement.
  • We've been living together in a 1-BR apartment for two years...we just resigned our lease but I hope that in a year we can buy a townhouse in the city or house outside the city (washington, dc).
  • We've been living together in a 3 br, 1 bath duplex apartment for 3 years now.  It's been great but I can't wait to get a place of my own.  We both grew up out in the country so we are really itching to have our own space.
