OK, now for the mamas ...

I was mostly going to post this to Summer to check on Jacob's BFF and what he's doing that Jacob hasn't started yet, but I definitely want to hear about all the other little nesties :)  (Shaina, I don't want to leave anyone out, but you can do a homeowners check in, or furbabies check in, if you want Stick out tongue)

I can't believe all that has happened in the 6th month. Jacob is sitting up, standing while holding on to the ottoman -- and even started cruising a little (with a spotter!), doing his version of "crawling" which is more like twisting from one place to another, getting used to eating (he likes sweet potatoes), and babbling more -- his first "word" was "mmmmummah"!!

He also understands cause and effect. He pressed a button on the remote and looked at the TV, expecting to turn it on! And he reaches up to the mobile on the crib to press one of the buttons to turn it on. With all this cause and effect understanding, we Ferbered him this week and ... The first night he cried for 2 hours (broke my heart), the second night he cried for an hour, and last night he STTN! 11 hours and not one peep! I hope that this is it for him.

Oh, and one other thing -- he is expressing interest in things. It's so cool! When he's in our lap in the glider, he sees books and reaches for them. When we're done with a book, he starts fussing and reaching for more. I love it. When I feed him, he wants to grab the spoon and do it himself. I let him and of course he can't quite get it in his mouth on the first try. SO cute!

  • This post is no good w/o some updated pictures!!!

And thanks for the shout out, maybe I should start a furbaby update. Stick out tongue

  • Good news in our world... Duncan is finally getting better. He hasn't had any projectile vomitting or runny diapers since Sunday night. Whew!!! I'm so relieved.

Now for milestones...Duncan is babbling up a storm and responds to your voice...although he has discovered how to screech and man is it loud! We've had to invest in baby gates as he loves to roll everywhere. Last night he rolled right under the entertainment center because there was a toy he tossed under there. Funny part, he got stuck and had the cutest confused look on his face because he couldn't figure out how to get out. He's figured out the arm reach and the legs position for crawling but hasn't figured out how to do it together. He reaches for things and has quite a grip now.

He's also discovered the cat and watches Puck intently. He's tried to reach for his tail, but no success yet. We are going to start solids in the next week or two because he is so interested in our food. And since I had to spoon feed him Pedilyte last week he has started to get the idea of a spoon and what to do. He can sit tri-pod style for just a little bit before he "folds in half" (Jim calls it that). No teeth yet, but his gums are rock hard and he's chewing on anything he can get his hands on so I know it will be soon.

Can't believe my little guy is growing up so fast! I will post an updated picture later--I don't have any at work. They are all still on the cameral.

  • I'm a bad mama and haven't uploaded any new photos. Here's the latest ones I have, and I think I already posted them? It's the beginning of the big changes in Jacob's life. The night we discovered that he could stand up:

And here he is, showing off his sitting up skills and his big ole belly and his favorite book (which he now reaches for! So cute!)

  • Hmmm, what does Miss Riley do?  She rolls both ways and has for awhile, she's a tummy sleeper exclusively.  She "talks" incessantly and blows raspberries - the ILs said she talks more than her 15 month old cousin! lol.  Ma, ba, and hi are some of her most repeated sounds along with "ah-boo" and "ah-gee".  She's big into dropping things off the side of the couch, we're apparently discovering gravity.  She stands holding onto the back of the couch or side of the crib, only if we put her that way, obviously, and sits!!  Again, only if we put her that way, but it's super cute:

Oh and she's a giggler.  She laughs when we wash her neck and if we tickle her armpits, but sometimes all you have to do it look at her and it sets her off.  She's still EBF - we'll be starting solids at 6 months, or at least closer to, via BLW.

  • Xander hates to be spoon fed right now, he just wants to feed himself all the time. This makes trying to find healthy quick dinners for him hard. He had Andrew's spaghetti sauce and meatballs for the first time over the weekend and loved it! Oh big news...he can STAND on his own without holding on. This worries me a lot now since he likes to do it in the bathtub. Tooth number 7 came through on Sunday and number 8 isn't too far behind now.

Here are the pictures I just posted on FB this weekend:
