I know if I had paid more attention all along I'd know the answer to this, but is there a way to "borrow" Kindle books like through a library?
I asked for a Kindle last night for Christmas, and may get it sooner for my birthday. I love books, and fear I may miss the tangible part, but you all say that you get over the paper-lust pretty quick, so I'm ready to make the leap. I just know I'd read so much more, because I'm likely to take the Kindle with me everywhere. I always find myself in some random waiting room wishing for my book, or traveling with and extra 10-15 pounds and half my carry-on filled with reading material.
So, do you have to buy all the books, or is there some kind of Kindle library/club?
Re: Kindle question
Getting library books on the Nook is super easy. Nook is compatible with Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) and Overdrive (ADE is software and Overdrive is the company that does library ebooks. Both are necessary for library books.)
You can, by messing with the files, make library books work. Google is your friend and all but yeah I did some research into this area.
SkiCC. What city do you live in?

Thanks. Given all that, would you still buy the Kindle rather than a Nook?

Fenton is wise.

The Nook v Kindle debate if your library has a good selection is hard. I do think that the Kindle is the superior machine. Better screen (Nook with catch up soon though), slightly better design, better battery life. Amazon's customer service is awesome. B&N's is mediocre. B&N is in financial difficulty and is up for sale. All in all, I would still get a Kindle but I think if you bought a Nook you'd be happy too.
