confession

last night I was cleaning out a cabinet and found the Pedipaws nail file thing, my dog hated it so I was going to throw it away.  I decided to try it out on myself first, not on my nails but on a callous I have on the side of my big toe.  It worked great so now I'm keeping it for myself.  I'm a beast.

Re: confession

  • I confess I was really surprised in all that Trixie discussion that there wasn't more of a reaction to a 34 year old divorcee marrying a 20 year old. I guess people were just feeling bad for her under the circumstances, but I was pretty floored by that news.

Me, too. I really want to know when they starting dating, circumstances, etc.

  • I agree with you, that much of an age difference when you're 20 seems very weird to me.

  • It was definitely an eyebrow raiser for me, but in the grand scheme of things it just didn't seem worth mentioning.

Exactly.  She'd just had her personal life discussed at length, full of people's assumptions and theories about her and her H.  It doesn't seem like there was any reason to hop up and down because she got married to an older guy 6 years ago that she may or may not end up divorcing.

  • I must have missed that tidbit.  I think the whole discussion was absurd.  If you want to divorce, then divorce.  But don't make up some bullshiit "I love him SOOOO much and he's my soulmate, but we can't have kids naturally so instead of doing any work to try for a baby, we'll just end the relationship"

I'm so bummed about our house hunting experience.  We put in another offer on a house yesterday.  It's a short sale and is scheduled for auction at the end of the month.  The list price is for more than they owe the bank (which I don't understand b/c isn't the point of a short sale that the bank is willing to take less?)  Anyway, we offered a little below what is owed to the bank and the seller's agent came back right away claiming that there's another offer very close to ask (I think they are bluffing), so we'll have to offer list to get it.  Umm, no thanks.  I'm not in the business of helping a bank turn a profit.  Nor am I in the business of bailing out sellers who haven't paid their mortgage for two years.

  • I think it was a matter of bigger issues.  But yeah, there are a lot of reddish flags other than the fertility problem.

I also side eye a 30 year old getting a vasectomy because his wife shouldn't have kids.  Get a tubal, lady.

  • I noticed, but I figured they're getting divorced now so any warnings anyone might give are kind of playing out anyway.  I think he's a little sketch, but she's getting out, so what else is there to say?

  • Holy cannoli, there is a $250 cat sweater on Ruelala today:

Because who wouldn't want a designer name cat sweater?  And what a bargain at $250!  I would have paid the full price of $565.

  • I still do not understand why there had to be 57 different threads about Trixie's issue. I only lurk there but everytime I went over there was a new thread where the poster was putting in their 2 cents that could have easily been added to the original post. I know this is part of their MO but it made me want to stab my eyes out.

There are a few decent posters that seem normal but I really cannot look past how many people throw out "that is gay" and "oh how retarded" like it is acceptable.

Actually they are getting counseling to try to work it out, but similarly counseling will hopefully hit all the sketcky.   And you make Moo feel squicky with note reading every single post before commenting.

I can't even remember why, but Krisdi still bugs.

I also wondered about a man with a vasectomy blindly believing that he fathered not one but two children. Again, by that point it just wasn't worth bringing up.

Okay, so I went back and read her most recent post and now I understand the whole story.  I still think it's shady, but now I think she's not so much the shady part of the story.

  • I didn't read everything, and I'm not going to, and I probably jumped to some conclusions, and seeing some of her responses, she doesn't seem to be the crazycakes I would have pegged her for based on the few posts I did read.

But (and I know that everyone has their own feelings on things and blah blah blah) I cannot help but judge anyone who doesn't want kids unless they are genetically linked to them.  Clearly my personal situation clouds my judgement here, but even the number of people who I've met at the adoption agency who act like adoption is their consolation prize make me want to take a hammer to their groins.  This is not about Trixie, and I know that not everyone understands or "gets" everything I do either.

I agree with this, but I feel like my ability to have a biological kid makes it "easy for me to say", so it definitely sounds better having you say it.

  • My confession is that I was oddly touched my many of you "sticking up" for me over on ML.  Thanks for putting up with my temporary insanity.

That seems logical. I have barely even been posting anything besides the occassional congrats lately, but it's good to know that I can have that effect on you without even trying for reasons unknown to even you.

  • I absolutely agree with Fallin.

The guy probably loved those kids and I would guess probably has no contact with them now.   So he put his heart out there with kids that "belonged" to someone else and doesn't want to do that again.

  • I am just now catching up with reading all of the Trixie stuff from yesterday, but I thought the response to you was kind of ridiculous, CS.

I like most of ML, but in general they are pretty bad for the "This person is allowed to be sensitive, crazy, whatever, because they are going through SO MUCH right now and none of you betches understand!"

But then everyone's all "Gaawwdd, don't be so serious!" when the woman who recently adopted gets irritated at people using the term "real kid" or "own kid" in reference to biological children.

    It annoyed me.

  • I got laid off for the summer, and I am going to a two week school to be a fire investigator for my county, and I am pretty excited. However, while I am staying at home and Doug goes to work, I get really bored. This weekend I am going to Seattle with my best friend and her kids, so I am pretty excited.

And I feel bad for trixie, but I can't get into anymore of her life. I feel that she shared what she could, but now it's a personal issue with her and her husband and her counselor.

  • I follow stuff like this for soap opera value.  Each new post is a new episode.

I am AmyNumbers100% sure her H lied somewhere in this plot.  At the very least, I don't think he got the vasectomy reversal.

Part of me wonders if she's ever met these FraudKids and if they even exist.
