Okay so I got this message on Facebook from someone I do not know:
?
"You must be a relative of Tim of [city, state deleted]. Are you aware that he and Larry have been boyfriends since Tim was about 16 or 17 yrs old. That is why Larry is at [university], to be with Tim. Do you believe their relationship is appropriate? It certainly wasn't when Tim was 16. At that age, that would make ?Larry a pedophile wouldnt it? I wonder how many other boys, Larry has engaged in relationships with when he was at {deleted] High School in [deleted]?"
?
Names have been changed and locations deleted. I am not a relative of "Tim." I know "Larry" from when he was my band director almost 10 years ago. How the hell am I supposed to respond to something like this? Of course I could always just ignore it, but because of the subject matter and wrong assumptions about relations I still feel compelled to respond in some way. WWYD?
Re: WWYD: Weird random msg from facebook
That is really weird. I would write back, letting them know that they are mistaken and you are not a relative to Tim, and I'd probably ask them not to contact me again.
How odd.
my read shelf:
Obviously if this was just about them being boyfriends then the guy who sent this to me would get an earfull, but since he's talking about this relationship being inappropriate in a legal aspect it makes me bite my tongue. I'm just stunned that someone would send something this serious to someone who may or not be a relative. What does he hope to accomplish exactly?
?
This is what I responded with:
"I'm sorry do I know you? And in fact, no I am not a relative of Tim of [city/state]. I do not know Tim and I have not seen Larry in almost 10 years. I'm not really sure what you expect to accomplish with this message, but maybe next time you should establish the relationship before making such damning accusations to a complete stranger."?
?We'll see.?
Douchebag.
But in other news, hellllllo stranger!!!!!
I'm glad you found us over here...I was a little concerned that you got lost in the shuffle! I hope everything is good with you! Don't be a stranger!
Oh good, I won't worry next time there is a group defection.
