A regular on the Pets board lost her 8 year old American Bulldog Max today. You just never know when your time together will be up...
Hug your pets (and humans!) extra tight tonight!

Re: Hug your pets tonight
UGH! We're about to send Murphy off to "Grandpa and Grandma's" tonight for the next 9 days! I'm already a basketcase, now I am even more!
:::Our Adoption Journey:::
Evan James was born 1/24/13 and matched with us 2/20/13. The LOVE OF MY LIFE!!!
Coincedentally Pandora just played Elton John's Circle of Life! One pet leaves us while other pets find their new homes.
Good luck on the search!
Oh my goodness! I just went over and read her story. Now I'm bawling my head off. Both Murph and Sampson are looking at me like I'm nuts.
I dread that day...

She is an absolutely amazing advocate for pets. She transports animals all over the place and fosters among countless other things.
Poor Max went through many surgeries in his life to retrieve things from his tummy (mostly baby socks) and in the end it was lesions on his brain that got him. So sad. :-( Pet deaths hit me HARD. :-(
Everyone on the Pets board is raising a glass and a sock to toast Max "The Goat". Cheers buddy.
Now I just want to go home and hug my boys :-(
ETA: A beautiful tribute... don't read this if you don't want to cry.

Our new bunny, who we adopted, apparently came from a bad breeder. He's SO sweet and cute and fun, but he's had one thing after another---pin worms, fur mites, mysterious skin problem on his mouth, and now corneal abrasions in his eyes... This is all since last spring, and he's only 14 months old! Poor bun--it's not his fault he has bad genes.... We actually have to take him to a vetrinary opthamologist next week, and I'm hoping hoping hoping he doesn't have cataracts. I'm scared
I'm already sad about when our foster goes to her home! And she's not even adopted yet!
No losing pets. Not allowed. I know the dog is a main reason my mom hasn't lost her mind after being widowed.
I won't go read the story because I will cry, but I lost my first Ragdoll cat (as in MY cat, not our family cats) when she was 5 in spring of '09. I posted about it on here and I was absolutely devastated because she showed no signs of illness and she greeted me at the door like always just 20 minutes before she died. I still have a huge hole in my heart from that. =(
On the bright side, I've been able to adopt 2 rescued Ragdoll mixes since then and they are so so so wonderful.
I didn't realize you fostered for Homeward Bound! That is awesome!
I read about that earlier today, so sad.
We are in the midst of making a decision to euthanize one of our cats for severe inappropriate urination and defecation issues. It sucks, I don't like having to make this decision.
my read shelf:
My heart breaks for PB. I mentioned this elsewhere, but a lot of us felt like we knew Max, even though we may have never met him. I hated to see him leave this way.
Obviously, I'm not comfortable sharing the baby news over there today. I just don't think it's a good time for that.
I can't find half of my cats right now, but I gave Josie a big smooch when I walked in the door tonight.
Are you taking your bunny to Dr. Laroca in Andover? We saw him for Bijou's corneal abrasions and he was wonderful. He was actually cheaper than seeing our regular vet for the eye issues and wish we would have gone to him sooner. He definitely knows his stuff!
Losing a pet is one of the hardest things I've ever gone through. Luckily, dh and I have eachother for support and I think having our dd has given us something else to focus our attention on but it is still so hard. I was just telling dh last night how I still miss Bijou so much. It's so amazing having pets in your life but the loss of them is almost unbearable- no matter how old they are or how ready you think you will be. So glad we still have Sofie for doggie cuddles.

Yes! Dr. Laroca is the opthamologist my vet recommended. Thanks so much for letting me know that you had a good experience with him. We've only seen our vets exclusively for the past 7 years, so I'm nervous about seeing someone new, and I'm worried about little things like "will he know how to calm my bunny down like my vet does? will he know how to hold him properly?" Silly things, but I just don't know how experienced they are with rabbits there. But it definitely helps to hear that you had a positive experience there with your sweet Bijou. Thanks!
We talk about how much we miss our Mr. Hop Hop all the time too... it definitely helped having a new bunny who desperately needed our love and attention, but we'll never stop missing Mr. Hop Hop. We just wish we could have saved him. We tried so hard. Ok, I have to stop--I'm about to make myself cry
I had no idea you were fostering. We actually looked at Ember on petfinder when considering our second. I figured having 2 cowardly dogs wouldnt be a good idea though.
She is SUPER DUPER cute!!!! We're done at two but some days I wish we could live in the country and have a big house full of doggies! :-)
And oh boy...I'm crying all over again reading the follow-up to Max passing yesterday. I seriously cry more reading about animal deaths than I do about human deaths. :-(
We take our cat, Bagheera, to Dr. Laroca! He is really good, and even though Bagsy is squirmy he is completely understanding and a very calm vet.
