alcohol + pregnancy = thumbs up.
Re: alcohol + pregnancy = thumbs up.
My MIL was prescribed a half glass of wine a day when pregnant with her third son. She had several miscarriages and required extra hormones to get through the pregnancy safely. The booze was supposed to help keep her calm.
BIL turned out all right. He's going prematurely bald but otherwise he's fine
I don't really crave wine (and I don't drink beer) while pregnant. Plus if I'm gonna drink wine, I'm gonna drink wine
One of my friends has had a glass of wine at least 2-3 times a week while she's been pregnant. That just bugs me, developmental advantages or not. Just doesn't seem right.
I saw this on PC&E yesterday and then they decided to post it on the Bump to see if the people over there would exploded.
Personally, I wouldn't chance it but I'm not going to judge anyone who has a small glass during their preganancy.
ETA: I just re-read the part you had in your message. So are they saying if I don't drink some wine then I am depriving my child of having a slight developmental advantage? I know alot of people think their children are advanced but I also know some children with FAS and it just saddens me that it could have been prevented.
I think a small glass of red wine a day is supposed to reduce down syndrome as well.
As long as the mother isn't drunk, the baby is fine.
Sadly, I tend to get tipsy with just one glass of wine so probably no wine for me if I decide to get KTFU.
Keeping in mind, in the olden days when water was not clean to drink, people drank ale and wine all the time.
"There is no detectable risk associated with light or moderate drinking during pregnancy."
this is the sentence that sort of makes me think the whole article is bogus. I mean really, no risk??? There are risks with everything.
With that said, I don't drink when I am pregnant, but I don't judge a woman who has a drink once in a while when is she pg.
