Soooo I posted earlier about how excited I was about this weekend...and I still am! But this has me soooooooo irritated.
We stay at this chain of hotels alllll the time. Exclusively. So we are like platinum people here, we always get the best rooms and top notch service.
We were here at this exact same hotel last year for Thanksgiving, same deal...4 nights, 5 days. (We are even in the exact same suite). Last year we had SUCH an amazing time, and I have been pumped to come back for an entire year.
So. We got here at 11 am. Our room wasn't ready until 3 pm!!! We have never ever ever had to wait for our room to be ready before. It was just really upsetting to me because we have Stella, so we couldn't go anywhere with her (like shopping, etc) because it's too hot to leave her in the car. We literally had to just sit around the lobby of the hotel for FOUR HOURS. I mean, check out is at noon, so even if there was someone in the room before us, do they need THREE HOURS to clean it?
This is not like we just have some regular room...we are in the huge suite (it is really sweet, we have two bathrooms, including a massive jacuzzi and a walk in shower, there are 5 rooms just for us). I am cranky because we pay a small fortune to be here, and it's not just for one night.
Also, when we got here last year, they had a case of Dave's fave beer, two bottles of wine, and a big plate of chocolate covered strawberries and a box of truffles waiting for us. This year, nothing.
There is a new guest services manager, and I have already met her and she is a complete dolt. I am not holding out super high hopes for her to pull through here.
I am aware that I sound like a spoiled princess here...but this is literally the ONLY holiday of the year that we get to have just us (no family) and thus we like to make it nice.
Re: I am annoyed
Let the guest services manager know how disappointed you are and how things were last time you stayed there and maybe she can do something about it to make sure the rest of your weekend goes better
Yeah I could, but as much as I will vent like a spoiled brat here in internet land, I'd feel like a complete douche saying something like that to someone IRL. I mean...you guys all know that I'm bat shiit crazy, but I mostly like to appear sane in the real world, haha
Especially since things like liquor and treats in the room is a "treat", right? It's not like we paid for that, so the fact that they did that was just a really nice thing for them to do.
Granted, the last three times we stayed here, we got booze and desserts so I did kind of expect it...but I probably shouldn't...you know what they say about assuming
I am not sure I would speak to her. I would consider speaking to the hotel manager. Tell them that you are wondering if something has changed in policy. That you always stay at their properties and you enjoy the quality of service you have received in the past. That you had been looking forward to this trip and staying at their property all year due to the service that you receive. That they have always gone above and beyond for you and that you are some what unimpressed with the service this time. Explain what is that you did get last year and this year it is not the case. The standard check-in time you are probibly not going to get any leverage on but it seems to me that the front desk could have seen if the other guest had checked out and asked the head of housekeeping to get your room squared away.
You are not a spoiled brat you are expecting the same service that you received in the past and there is nothing wrong with that.
When I worked front desk that is what I would have done with housekeeping. I also would have made sure as a manager that standards were kept by my staff. They need to know!
Yeah Pam, I might do that actually, thanks.
I did speak with the front desk staff (who were all REALLY friendly, I have to give them that) and I asked if they could mention to housekeeping that we were here and if they could put a rush on our room. I told them that normally we wouldn't care, but we have our dog with us this time (which we had already been in contact with them about, while this is a dog friendly hotel I don't think they're normally allowed in these rooms...I'm fairly certain they are normally restricted to the first floor).
Her answer was "oh, bring your dog in to the lobby! We love dogs here!"
Yeah, awesome. You might love dogs, but our dog loves everyone else and is completely awful on a leash in a hotel lobby because she wants to jump all over every single guest that walks by. And she's strong and hard to contain. Of course, we had no choice, because we couldn't just leave her in the car.
Note I have never been a manager but I did work front desk for a while... I also work in the hotel industry just on the dark side, haha thats what we call it.
I would have wanted to smack the girl at the front desk! She may love dogs but one of the other guests may have the biggest fear of dogs ever and seeing a dog in the lobby (although your baby is a sweetheart I am sure) could have made them terrified! That is horrible on that girls part. Shaking my head. Totally dumb! I do hope that you speak to the manager of the hotel! Things will be corrected that way and I am not talking about the front desk manager.
Hugs sounds like you need some shopping therapy!!! Oh and some damn wine!
Ahhhhhhhhhhahahahaha I am dying right now.
So Dave is gone to a hockey game and I'm chillin here alone. I'm watching tv, on the phone with my niece, playing with Stella, just all around relaxing and enjoying myself.
Then I need to use the bathroom. #2. No biggie. I go into the big bathroom...I'm all alone, so do I bother to close the door all the way? No. No sooner do I sit down, but I hear a knock on the door. I'm like, are you freaking kidding me? So I HOP UP, slam the door shut with my foot, and then I hear the knocking again, coming from the OTHER door (we have two doors to the hallway, told you this was a big suite) and I'm all "ffffff I'm in the middle of pooping!" So I quickly do my thing, flush, haphazardly wash my hands...because someone has just entered my room, thinking that I'm not here.
It's room service girl, bringing in a tray of goodies. I scared the bejeezus out of her, and then when it's clear I'm coming from the bathroom, we're both mortified. She makes some awkward comment about needing to deliver this tray, mentions that Stella is cute, then quickly backs out of the room.
So, we did get treats. A fruit platter. And ONE bottle of sparkling water. You have got to be freaking kidding me. Where are my fatty desserts? And my booooooooze? Dammit, this place sucks this year.
I'm going to hit up the liquor store on my own.
Hahahah I know, right?
But seriously, I have to stop being such a primadonna princess about this. That exact quality in other people pisses me off soooo bad, so I am really trying to get over myself.
We are in our room, all is good, no one was injured in the making of the four hour wait, and Dave and I didn't fight about it which is good because I'm not the most patient person in the world
Also - it's not like I NEED the desserts, and it was nice of them to go the healthy route, right?
hahahaha love it!!! Sorry the service isn't the same as last time
J... I just want you to know that I love you...
But that story had me seriously about to pee my pants I was laughing so hard!!!!!!
And I agree with Pam. If you've been a loyal customer to a certain chain much less a specific hotel and they have gone above and beyond in the past, I would expect nothing less from that staff. Even though they brought you the fruit, I still think that you have a leg to stand on in speaking with the manager. I mean, I would.
But let's face it, I'm a spoiled primadonna princess, too. And that's OK!
