What are you doing for your first anniversary?
Did you save the cake?
Are you getting him a gift? If so, what!?
Happy (almost) Anniversary!
Cheers!
Re: 10/10/2009 Brides!
I am not sure why my post looks so weird! Sorry.
Basically wanted to see what the 10/10 brides were doing for their anniversary this weekend? Did you get him a gift? If so, what? Did you save the cake?!
Cheers to all the 10.10.2009 brides!
We did save our cake, that reminds me I need to get it out of the freezer soon!
He is planning something this weekend, so we'll see what he has up his sleeve. I made him a fleece blanket (bc he always steals mine) and a few other things.
We're closing on our house tomorrow (have I said that enough times?
So no, no gifts. A good night's sleep, then maybe a stroll through the new 'hood for brunch. Then back to work!
We had an out of town wedding, so no cake top. If I had a kitchen I'd bake, but well, no.
Did you save the cake?Yes! I am so excited to eat it!!!
Are you getting him a gift? If so, what!? We are just giving cards. We are going away for the weekend so that is our gift!
Yes, we saved our cake. Guess I need to get it out of the freezer...
I'm really not sure what we're doing yet. The original plan was to go out of town to a B & B but it just isn't in the budget
I'm thinking it might be really nice just to go out to dinner Saturday night and eat at the restaurant where we had our reception.
And I had FINALLY decided on a gift that fit the "paper" category- I was going to design a photo book of our honeymoon pics cause DH has been making comments about how he wishes we could have made a return trip for our first anniversary. But I've been having major computer problems over the past couple weeks so I just wasn't able to do it. Aaaah! Nothing is going right!
We'll be having dinner at the restaurant where we had our reception. We ate all the cake, but we'll have another sweet, I'm sure.
For paper, I bought him some nice origami paper I know he'd never buy for himself since it's on the pricier side. The main gift is a set of semi-DIY matching pajamas. I bought matching pajama bottoms at Target and complementary shirts from Old Navy. I printed some personalizations on transfer paper and put that on the shirts. I'll PIP when I'm finished with the second set.
We did not save our cake. We pigged out on it as soon as we got back from our honeymoon. I do plan to go get some cupcakes from the bakery that made our cake so we can have SOMETHING on our anniversary.
We don't plan to exchange gifts, so I'll probably just get DH a card for something paper while I'm our getting the cupcakes. We do plan to do dinner and spend the night at the hotel where we spent our wedding night--just a nice evening out with the two of us.

For our 10/10 anniversary, we're going to Chicago for the weekend. We have friends who will be there to run the marathon, so we're going to see people people we never get to see any more. Not too romantic (since we're going to see other people), but we splurged on a hotel downtown, so I hope it'll be fun.
The trip was our "present" so he won't really get anything from me.
We had cupcakes, not a cake, but we didn't save any. It kind of grosses me out to think about. I know some places give you a free replica topper on your anniversary, which I think is awesome.
Can't believe it's been a year!
My daughter's bakery gives them a free topper...so she ordered that. Unfortunately, the university she works for has homecoming this weekend and all hands must be on deck. So, they are just going out to dinner on Sunday night.
I get to go to the wedding from hell this weekend. The one where the bride put that little sheet about cash being first choice...but they are registered at Wal*mart. Can't wait.
No we didnt save the cake. It got thrown in a beer box and it kinda just sat in there and the next morning my dad went to grab beer out of the box and ended up grabbing the cake. However I am going to get an apple pie foe Sunday becasue DH doesnt really like cake.
Our gifts to each other were Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure annual passes and tickets to the races in Homestead next month.
We saved the cake. This post reminded me to call my mom and ask her to take it out of the freezer so it could defrost. We also get a free top layer of cake from our bakery. I'm such a slacker and just ordered it today so we'll have it next weekend.
No big plans other than going to dinner on Sunday night to a restaurant we've never been to before. We're going to NYC for a couple of day at the end of the month for our anniversary. But no gifts ... just cards. The trip is our gift to ourselves.
Say hi to my city for me!
Oh, and your puppy is ADORABLE!
We went to Pike Place Market, got some amazing chantrelle mushrooms, a huge porcini mushroom, and some chicken (at a grocery store, not the market). We made this amazing recipe (with chicken instead of quails, lol), and had our cake.
We didn't save our cake, because our baker made us a fresh one a few days ago.
I got DH a Moleskine recipe journal, the williams-Sonoma Bride and Groom Entertaining Cookbook, Bram Stoker's Dracula on Blu-Ray, and Buchon Bakery shortbread cookie mix.

I didn't know that this board existed anymore. So Hi! And I'm sure nobody remembers me since I haven't been on the board in over a year.
Anyway, happy anniversary to you all! We went to Lancaster, PA for the weekend for a concert and shopping. We got a hotel room like we had on our honeymoon night and really had a great time.
We didn't save cake because we had sort of a DW but the bakery that make the groom's cake made us an anniversary cake with the same flavors. It was really good. And we had a wish box that our guests had dropped cards into for us to open on our 1st anniversary. It was so much fun to read them. I'm so glad we did that.
I got DH two t-shirts - he's a t-shirt guy. His birthday is also this month so I'll probably do something bigger for that.
Happy Anniversary!!
