Hey there ladies! Hopefully someone can help me out...
My 10 year high school reunion is coming up on October 16th. I want to go, but not make a whole night of it: a) because there aren't that many people I want to see; and b) because that is my boyfriend's birthday and he is being nice enough to give up the majority of his day to go to the reunion with me, so I'd like him to have some fun maybe by going out on the town in GR. [Oh, and for those that aren't FB friends with me, yes, I got divorced a year ago.]
So here's the problem...all the hotels in downtown GR that I've looked up are completely booked for that night. Wth?! Even the expensive places, like Amway and JW. Anyone have any idea what's going on in town or, even better yet, anyone have any hotel hookups? I am at a loss for what to do.
Re: Help an old GR Nestie out!
Have you looked into a hotel within 30 minutes or so of GR? I know it's not ideal, but maybe it would work?
I wonder what's going on....

Wow, crazy...I was just wondering about you the other day. Glad to see you popped on. Sorry to hear about your divorce, but glad to see you are dating someone else. Are you liking your job?
It looks like there are two conferences that weeked, Maly's and Gerber, so I would think might have something to do with it. Also maybe people from the Blueberry convention are staying an extra day.
How about staying on the outskirts. If you didn't want to worry about drinking you could always take a taxi. If you stayed at the Raddison Inn on Ann Street, that isn't too far. A cab ride wouldn't cost too much.
There are a ton of nice, "average" hotels on 28th street or Alpine. I searched on Expedia and it showed that JW may have rooms available, but it didn't, however it did show a list of places that had rooms available on the 16th.
The Grand Rapids Marathon is the next day.
Everything is going to be packed, not just hotels. A ton of people will be downtown for the race expo on Saturday and the race on Sunday. Expect traffic to be a nightmare Sunday morning.

So glad to see you pop in here! Do it more often, okay?
Looks like you got some good tips, so I won't add any.
Ahhhhhh! Now that makes sense. I wanted to do the whole downtown GR thing because it would be fun and Scott's never been there. But obviously that will be a bad idea. I think we're going to opt for going to his sister's lake house in Montague instead. Perhaps I'll hang out over here a little more and get some ideas for that.
I miss all you ladies!!
If you ever want an outing for the JW, check the prices in Jan. I found some great deals for Jan, but my parents were booked and couldn't watch my girls, so we couldn't go.
