Hubby lost his ring

Dan is on a work trip and left his ring on the desk in the hotel room he stayed in last night.  He kept trying to call the hotel today, but couldn't through.  When he finally reached someone housekeeping was already gone.  Hopefully they have his ring and he will get it back.

The good news is this helped me convince him that my rings need to be insured.  He didn't think it was worth the money, but now that he realizes how easy it is to forget your ring he's all for it.

  • Hope he gets it back!!
  • Yikes! I hope you get it back!

  • That sucks.  But it's the reason DH has a cheap ring.  I could probably count on 2 hands the number of times he has actually worn it since we have been married.  He ring sits on his key board.  I say I am married to his F9 key, not him.
  • I hope they have it!!

  • Man, that sucks.  Hopefully they have it!!  Adam never takes his off.  He freaks out if it's off his finger for like more than a minute.  We got his ring SUPER SUPER cheap so I bought two of them (just in case).  One is a half size larger just in case he decides to get fat.  haha

    LOL!! I love it!

Matt plays with his ring all of the time. It drives me crazy. (Mine haven't been off my finger since he put them on my hand at the altar!) Once he dropped it on a very hard tile floor in the middle of church and you could hear the clang throughout the whole sanctuary (his ring is tungsten). He had to crawl up and fish it out from under a pew during the prayer.

I really hope that housekeeping found your HH's ring and took it to the desk so he can get it back!  And yay for jewelry insurance!

  • DH's ring actually flew off his finger the other day while he was rough-housing with our dog and I heard it clatter across the floor but he apparently didn't and a few seconds later was like, "Where's my ring?" I look over and see it laying on the floor. And this is why I get nervous his ring is a little too big.

He lost a beloved cross necklace he'd gotten when we were at the Vatican during the Rome portion of our HM in the ocean in Maine over Labor Day wknd...and it was really long so it slipped over his head when he went under the water. He was like "Good thing my ring didn't come off, too." Um, yeah - good thing.

I really hope the hotel has held onto the ring and can mail it back to you guys! At least he knows the last place it was and it's not a mysery - like really lost lost.  Good luck!!!

  • That stinks! We also got Matt's rings on the cheap.  He found two in the clearnance case that he liked - nothing like 50% off! So if he loses one, he's got a backup. You should really get your rings insured...I would lose sleep over it if mine weren't.  We added a personal articles policy onto our homeowners' insurance and we pay around $3 per month. We have several lines of insurance, so I'm sure that that is a discounted rate.  But it shouldn't be more than $10 a month to insure unless you're carrying around the Prudential rock on your hand.  Wink
  • Insure insure insure! It doesn't cost a lot and its totally worth it!
  • Dan takes his ring off all the time which is how he forgot it.  His fingers are weird and they're biggest at the bottom, not the knuckle.  So if he's showering, putting on lotion, or anything like that his ring slips right off.  He kind of has to take it off or he's even more likely to lose it.  His was fairly cheap so if he lost it we can get a new one, but then it's not the ring I gave him on our wedding day.  :-(

As for insurance, my ring was insured for the first few months.  But he got the policy in Ohio and when they realized we live in Cali, they dropped it.  It was like $28 a month and he decided that was too much to spend.  I have been nagging him about it ever since because I'm very nervous something will happen.

  • Hah my parents got married in Hawaii, and my dad's ring was too big but my mom made him wear it anyway, and he was snorkeling and it fell off and went down in some coral. He tried to find it for hours but he never did!

LOL. I can't believe they tried to find it!  Too funny.

  • I would've tried to find it too.  My brother lost his on his HM in St. Lucia on the beach.  Actually found it awhile later.

  • Did I ever tell you guys about the time I took my engagement ring off at a park to put suntan lotion on (this was literally days after we got engaged, so I was still all weird about it) and then I forgot to put it back on?  I left it on a park bench and didn't realize until about an hour later (after I was back at work).

I lost my freaking mind and was in absolute hysterics...my boss drove me back to the park to try and find it.  I ran in SOBBING and this man walked up to me saying "Is this yours?  I noticed after you left that it was here...I was trying to figure out how I would ever get it back to you...I would have put an ad up on kijiji or something!"

I gave him the world's biggest hug, but I was in such a state that I didn't even think to ask for his name or anything, so I was never able to give him a reward for getting it back to me.
