Politics and jobs

I know a lot of you girls dont care for politics, but I need to vent.  I am sick and tired of hearing  of more and more people losing jobs.  We have been at 9.6 % jobless rate for 14 months straight.  I can tell you that this 9.6 % is definitely higher than this when you factor in recent college graduates.  My brother and DH are among them, neither of them can find a full time job (and dont qualify for unemployment bc they are recent college grads).  Not only are my DH and brother unable to find work, but other family members of mine have also lost their jobs this summer.  It is beyond frustrating and scary.

I am tired of hearing President Obama blame others (Republicans) for this.  The government needs to step up and help us and address whats going on, not continue to hurt us with pointing the finger towards others and ignoring the problems real people face like not being able to find a job.  Im sorry but Pres. Obama has done nothing for us.  I hope we get a new governor for our state this Nov. as well.

Re: Politics and jobs

  • My current favorite political ad is for a guy who's running for a Senate seat against the incumbent.  He's running audio from radio programs the current Senator did during her original run for office 18 years ago.  In those recordings, she was saying how the unemployment rate was so high and the national debt was ridiculously high...and how she'd work to lower both of those.  Then the ad shows what those numbers are today.

I seriously hope that people in this state (and other states) actually think about the "promises" they've been given versus the results we've ended up with.

  • I think that in the past, people voted for who was popular or "cool" and they had no idea what it was they really were voting for.  Unfortunately a lot of voters vote this way.  Like what you said, I hope people research and think about the promises politicians make before placing a vote.  It's just so frustrating!
