The top post right now features a blog with
-Toll house cookies (helllo, I made those when I was 4!)
- Pillsbury wrapped hotdogs.
I hate being snarky, b/c my cooking/baking isn't perfect....but is this stuff really blog worthy? I mean realllly?
Re: Another WC Complaint
Can't hold a candle to yours. But those Pillsbury, always kind of raw in the center wrapped hot dog thingy-s do take me back!
Reminds me of those sandwich makers everyone used to have. Jiffy cornbread mix and cut-up hot dogs = mini corn dog deliciousness! But I digress...............
Aw. Thanks Alisa!
I went to a wedding reception once where the bride made her own mini hot dog, pillsbury wrapped weinies!
::hangs head in shame:: I've gotten several good recipes off those blogs.
Maybe I am cooking illiterate but when they post the menus, etc. I always think, do any of these people work? How in the heck do they make such fancy things during the week?
my read shelf:
Oh Im ALL for simple cooking - my more complicated stuff is for weekends ONLY. The reason my meal above wasnt blogworthy was bc it was almost totally store bought and not something I actually MADE ya know?
Sometimes the fancy sounding stuff isnt so bad too. Like last night I made a balsamic-Rosemary Crusted Rack of Lamb. with Northern indian spiced potatos. Sounds fancy. Wasnt. Marinated the lamb the night before - coated with breadcrumbs and threw in the oven. Potatos in the oven too with a spice mixture, and I cooked the marinade into a sauce while they baked.
Sometimes things looks way more complicated/time consming than they are, ya know?
Ive seen THC get knocked before I think. But I PPH them!
Haha, I love that one!?
uh not in cooking blogs they dont talk about mail... but thanks for the insult...?
What? You don't like box cake mixes with soda? Or bleu cheese dips on wings? Or weird crack dips? No? I'm shocked.
I checked that board for awhile and rarely saw anything that looked good. I'm sure there's stuff there, but it's almost all meat-y. And I'm not interested in baking of 20 minute dinners. I just want a really good dinner even if it takes awhile.
I had no idea!! That's crazy!
I'm not talking about stick. I mean with one they turn out lumpy and the other they turn out domed/poofy. I noticed this in college when I made them for sorority bakesales. I have both kinds of cookie sheets and would alternate. I forget which is which. Maybe dark is domed/poofy?
I'm sorry. I didn't mean to imply that THCs were inferior. They are not. They are great, IMO. Like I said, I have been making them for over two decades. The first recipe I ever made was THCs with my mom as a little tyke. So I have no ill will towards them. It's just that it is probably the most widely recognized, used recipe on the planet...which makes blogging about them a little...odd...and bragging about blogging about them a little...odd. JMO.
But then again, I blog about sh*t too....so I can't judge. Lol. Sorry. Hope I didn't ruffle any feathers.
No! So have I! Including, pumpkin penne...which I am dying to make. There are some really talented food bloggers over there. There are also some mediocre ones too...you have to just weed through the posts a little bit. Like shopping at Marshalls. Lol.
