Fit FRIDAY!

Gooooooooood MORNING ladies!  It's FRIDAY!!  How did everyone do this week?  Are we all losers?   I hope so, but even if you maintained or gained, that's no big deal.  You'll do great next week!  Today's topic...Zumba...anyone try it yet?

I bit the bullet over the weekend and joined WW.  I gave the 1400 calorie thing 7 weeks and only lost 2lbs.  Truthfully it has worked REALLY well for me in the past, but adding in the exercise now, I stayed steady at the same way for the past 5 weeks.  I started Monday, lost 1.5lbs already!  Today is my 8 week anniversary for consistently working out so go me!

As for Zumba, I tried it this week.  I look like a train wreck. I don't know how they wiggle their hips so fast along with doing other moves.  I think I tripped myself twice!  BUT I'm very sore today, so that's a good thing.

Re: Fit FRIDAY!

  • I'd like to join in! I joined a gym last week and went 3 times this week. I'm happy with that. I'm not sure if I've gained or lost -haven't been on the scale yet. I've never tried Zumba and am extremely uncoordinated so I doubt I could do it based on your post. I do like group classes and hope to get involved in some soon. I probably need another week or two of exercising alone before I have the confidence. Have a great weekend girls.
  • In September I lost 6.6lbs!  October hasn't been great, I weighed in this moroning and gained exactly 1lb back...boooo!

I tried Zumba once and I'm not a fan, I think because I'm just not that co-ordinated.  When everyone's going to the left, I'm stumbling and heading to the right...lol!  I've been going to a couple aerobic classes a week though and they are definitely kicking my a$$.  Tonight I have one called Rock Bottom, and boy does my "bottom" hurt when I'm done!

     Good luck everyone!

  • I wanna play!

I haven't really lost anything, but I'm not really trying to lose anymore.  I mean sure, if it just comes off that's great - but I'm more focused on getting back in the routine of working out.  Now that my little injury is almost healed - I started back on it on Monday.  I'm re-doing C25K MWF and lifting T&TH... Haven't decided what to do on Saturday yet, and there is just too much football on Sunday so that's my rest day.  LOL...

As far as Zumba goes - I had DVDs like 5 years ago but didn't really get into it.  I'm super uncoordinated so that doesn't help much.  I would love to try a class one day, but DH and I aren't gym members out here yet - and I don't think we will end up joining a gym with classes.  We are kind of bare-bones gym fans... but who knows... maybe one day!

Hope everyone had a great week - and I hope everyone's next week is just as great!

  • I went running Tuesday and Thursday this week and am hoping for tomorrow morning as well. There's a 5k four weeks from tomorrow near where I live, so I'm planning on running that and would really like to improve my time. All three 5k's I've ran this year have all been about the same time. I've been doing well with eating all week, but that will change in just a little bit. Going out for lunch and dinner today for my birthday and my niece's birthday party is tomorrow.

As for Zumba, I have not tried it, but am not sure that I'd be very good at it or feel comfortable without a drink or two!

  • I want to play too  :)

although I'm at the beginning, I went the gym yesterday for the first time since the wedding (I'm calling it a success)  I would've been back sooner but was without a car for a month so I'm not counting september.  New goals are going to the gym 2x a week, and either go hiking or if weather isn't good go to the gym a 3rd time.  And eat more fruits & veggies

I've never heard of Zumba... but coordination isn't my friend (I walked into a car in the starbucks parking lot this morning) sooo most likely not the best ideal for me.

  • I have never participated in this before but I am on a total health kick.  I gained weight, (ALOT) over the past year.  In fact, I went from 160 to 207.  When I stepped on the scale two weeks ago I cried.  As with most things in my life, I went drastic.  I started the warrior diet and couch to 10K and am down 14.5 pds as of today (day 15).  Since I  have alot more weight to lose, it comes off fast in the beginning..

Now I am headed to my parents and friends houses over the next 9 days in PA and NJ.  I HAVE to stay good..!

I tried  Zumba a couple years back and liked it-I think it is all in the teacher.  It would not be something I did all the time but is fun to mix things up!

  • I lost 2 lbs this week.  I started P90X last Saturday and I worked out everyday this week.  So far I really like it.  I hope it works because I am sore.

I have not tried Zumba.  But I would like to at some point.

  • I have been totally unmotivated to lose weight lately.  DH and I have been training for a 5k so I've been doing to C25k program, but that alone isn't making me lose weight.  I think that if I could get my eating under control I would lose weight and then the running might be a little bit easier, lol.

I'm not sure exactly how much I weigh right now, but I know that it's bad enough b/c some of my favorite jeans don't fit anymore.  :(  I need to start keeping track of everything and get serious about weight loss, otherwise I won't have any clothes to wear this winter!

Oh, and I've never done Zumba, but I'm also extremely uncoordinated and clumsy, so I'm not sure I could get into it.  I really like Pilates and Yoga if I'm going to do a class.

  • Can I play?

I ordered Nutrisystem yesterday, I've been stuck at the same weight since the wedding and I just don't have the time to cook like I'd like to.  I got the food today and start it tomorrow.

I need to start working out too, but I've been working 10-11 hour days and get home completely exhausted.  Maybe I'll have better luck next week.  I'd be happy with even 3 days a week at this point.

I've never tried zumba, or really any group class for that matter.

  • Ok, I'm back from my trip and am joining back in!  I worked out three days during my trip to Toronto.  It felt good to run on the treadmill.  Since I've gotten back though I haven't worked out.  I've just been soooo tired!!!  My eating habits have been good this week, I only splurged last night.

The scale is about the same.  My goal this coming week is to definitely workout Sat and Sun since I will have no excuse and at least get one other day in to workout through the week.  I'm also thinking about doing a detox to help, just need to find one I like (oh, and do it after next weekend since my bff is coming to visit!).

    Keep up the motivation ladies!!!

  • Thanks for playing ladies!  It seems like everyone did a great job in one way or another.  Baby steps count more than you think!
