I just got back from running a 5k! Yay! I did it!! It's my 2nd 5k (I did the same one last year.) I got the exact same time which kind of bummed me out because I was better prepared this year. :-( My legs were fine and my lungs were okay but between mile 2 and 3 I felt like I had to toss my cookies. :-( That has never happened to me before in all of my running training! Bummer! BUT, at least I crossed the finish line and got a cute t-shirt :-) YAY!!!!

Re: I did it! Finished 5k!
Yes. But by only about 10 seconds, HAH. :-) The whole sudden strong urge to throw up really messed up my game plan. Bummer.
Here's to next year! :-)
Congrats! It was a beautiful morning for a run lthough did the air feel thick with something to you while running? My lungs felt like they were working extra hard this morning, and it looked pretty smoggy over toward Mpls....
Bummer about the little stomach episode, but at least you didn't let it stop you!
Way to go Kiz! That's definitely something to be proud of, kudos to you!
You did the C25K, right? I peeked at their website the other day but haven't had time to go back and read it completely. I've always considered running, I know it can be great for weight loss (which I need) but there is a 5K in May that I want to participate in. Your thoughts, recommendations etc about the C25K? Did you have any running experience before the C25K?
my read shelf:
what katrina said... : ) way to go kiz! did you have anything different for breakfast or eat sooner to race time or anything? were you hydrated enough?
regardless, great job!
I'm thinking I wasn't hydrated enough and should have eaten breakfast a little earlier than I did. I never run in the morning so I guess I'm not up to speed on what to do to be most successful :-/
I had ZERO running experience when I started C25k. I could literally run about 15 seconds and want to die. That being said, the first day of C25k (8 one-minute runs) were TOUGH. But it got easier and easier and now I can run about 20 minutes without stopping!! I didn't get to the very end of C25k before this race but it did prepare me enough to be able to at least finish it :-)
If you do start it the first day will probably seem HARD. But stick with it!!! It WILL get easier!! I actually did week 1 about 5 times instead of 3 and that helped me really ease into everything.
Good luck!!

Congrats!
It was pretty warm on Saturday. I know that the heat really gets to me. Running in the morning is also not my forte. I have to be awake for at least two hours before hand to get the best results. Sometimes the stars align and sometimes they don't. You still did great though and you finished!

That's awesome!
I've been training for 3 months now and my first 5K is on October 30th. REALLY addicted to running now, which is amazing since I shunned all things exercise my entire life.
I'm really nervous for my first race, but very excited too.
Congrats on your 2nd! Any thoughts on a 10K in your future?

Nope. No way. My next fitness goal is to run a whole 5k and not walk any of it. Even without the urge to barf on Saturday I know I would have walked at least a little bit of it. 5k is the perfect length for me. I think my goal of 100% running is attainable and any longer than that and I'd get bored out of my mind.
