Recommend a flat iron

I need to get a new flat iron, but I don't want to spend tons of $ either. I think maybe around $100 is my absolute limit. Cheaper would be better, but if it's worth the extra few bucks I'll spend it.

Any suggestions?

Re: Recommend a flat iron

  • I used to use a Sedu, that I did really love. Its over $100. Then I broke it (the plug) so after 3 years of using that I bought a Solia that I REALLY love and its around $80 (or it was).

So I recommend a Solia. Variable temps, works great. I would buy another again if needed. But I have had this one now for almost 3 years and its still going strong :)

  • I have this straightener from Target and I love it.  It's a cheaper alternative to a chi.  It heats up quickly and you can pick the temp you want (which I really like).

  • I have a CHI that has lasted me 5 years. It was around $100 when I got it. I think it's still that price, but you can get it at Target. I love it and since it has lasted me so long, it has definitely been worth the price.

  • I have a Karmin - there are a number of models, but you can get a few models for under $100.
  • Infrashine: my stylist uses it and I finally bought it when mine died.  I LOVE it!

  • I bought the Solia off of folica.com after getting several suggestions from the girls over on Fashion & Beauty. Supposedly it's better than the CHI (I've only used a CHI once in my life, but haven't heard good things about the newer models lately). I could NOT be happier.

I have super thick, long hair, and it takes about 5 minutes to do as opposed to the 20 minutes it took with my old Target one I got for like $25.

And I only have to go through my hair once and it stays super straight and shiny all day long.

It was $79.99, comes with a 2-year warranty, and a heat pouch.

It's rated one of the top 10 flat irons with over 4,300 reviews, so I can't be the only one that loves it!

  • I bought mine from the kiosk in the mall . . . I can't remember the name, but it's the kiosk where they always want to curl or straighten your hair.  I love it, it gets hot and it's not ceramic so the iron doesn't dis color.  I've had it about 2 years so far.

  • I got a sedu off of folica.com after my CHI broke after 5 years :(  I'm really happy with it so far!  The other kind I was debating over was the Solia which is cheaper.
