I saved a dog last night :o)

I was driving home from the barn, but still on the dirt road by the barn when I saw a golden retriever walking super slowly. They just regraded the road so it was really rocky. I stopped to see if he had tags, which he didn't of course. So I had the door to my car open while I called H to see what I should do with him when he just climbed in my car. He could barely walk and I could tell he was really old. Since it was 8:30 and dark out I decided to just bring him home for the night and bring him to the Animal Shelter in the morning.

We set him up in the garage with food (which he inhaled), water and some padded carpet remnants to sleep on. This morning he had a lot more energy but was still moving kind of stiff.

So we get to the shelter and I tell the woman that I have a dog in my car that I found on the side of the road. She asks me where, says that isn't their territory but she'll call animal control. Just as she's dialing the number she goes "it isn't a golden retriever is it?" Turns out the owner has two that had gone missing, both 14 years old, and had been calling there every couple of hours. I was upset that they weren't together, but at least one will go home safely. His name is Spice. Smile So that's my good deed for the day!
