My DH is so hard to shop for. I have no idea what to get him for Christmas and quite frankly, I can't remember what I got him last Christmas. When I ask him what he wants, he says 'I just want you as my present'. How sweet. But really. WHAT DO YOU WANT???
What are you getting your H for Xmas?
On the flipside, I know exactly what I want. I am a sucker for Vera Bradley and love the new Twirly Birds Navy design because it's simple and doesn't scream 'I'm a quilted bag!!!!' like some of VB designs do. I'd also like a matching wallet because I'm anal like that. And I wouldn't say no to a cute cowl neck sweater. Other than that, I'm out of ideas. Honestly, I'd really really love a netbook, but I absolutely wouldn't want us to spend that much. Makes me ill to think about, even if you can get some for just $299. Still too much.
What do you want...and really want?

Re: First Christmas Married - What do you want?
I already bought DH's Christmas present: Colts Cowboys tickets on December 5. I'm excited because he's been a lifelong cowboys fan and this will his first game. We're going to take our christmas card picture at the game wearing opposing jerseys. I told him because the tickets were hella expensive and I wanted to make sure he didn't buy them or make any other plans.
As for me, I don't really know what I want. I wanted an Android tablet for Christmas, but I'm an engineer and picky with my electronics and the exact tablet that I want doesn't exist yet. I also want an electric screwdriver because I love to assemble things but idk if that's much of a christmas present.
If I could really really really have anything I wanted? Can I please have an electric toothbrush? I have wanted one for AGES.
I really, really want a Nook, but I'm not sure if I can wait until December to get one!
DH does the same "just you" response! We have a unique situation during Christmas, my b-day is right before and his is right after so we do b-day gifts and then do stockings for each other on Christmas day. We've done the stocking thing for a few years now and it is very fun! We set a limit for the stocking purchases, usually $20-$40, so it is also a challenge to try to "out-do" the other one while staying in the price limit.
I struggle because there are a few very obvious things that DH likes but I feel bad making these things gifts because he usually buys them for himself throughout the year (video games; jerseys, shirts or hats of his favorite teams) and our families usually get these things for him as Christmas/b-day gifts. This usually leaves me struggling to come up with something original that he would appreciate.
Hey, that's cool Foxy! I'm a Christmas baby too and we always separate my birthday from the holidays, but I always feel bad that DH gets me something for my b-day and within a few days has to give me an Xmas gift.
Do the creep.
I am getting DH a weekend getaway package for christmas. He grew up in a somewhat poor household and his mom became bedbound when he was 8 years old so they never traveled. He LOVES to go anywhere I will take him!
As for me I want/am getting a rocking chair. It is a tradition in my family that the first christmas you are married the husband buys the wife a very nice/comfy rocking chair, signifying that there will be children to rock in it someday. DH and I plan to ttc next summer so I am excited to get it!
We both have our birthdays right around Christmas so we combine gifts but these are my thoughts for him: Scope for his gun and bullets, a new hat, hockey jersey, tool set.
Things I want: a camera, a custom necklace, a BFP (before would be fine), new clothes and panties, and a bunch of other things I can't remember right now.

I love the idea of a rocking chair!! How sweet!
I have been thinking about this too and I would rather start a new tradition this year, since it's our first being married. I would like to host something - not necessarily Christmas dinner, but at least a get-together for family. Since DH and I have been together, we have always opened our stockings and gifts on Christmas Eve, because we would be running around on Christmas Day going to our parent's houses. So I was thinking about something on Boxing Day (the day after Christmas in Canada is a holiday - boo yah!)
Other than that, we are doing a 'recylced gift' theme this year - our stockings and whatever gifts we do get for eachother have to be purchased from a second-hand store, or better yet, made. DH started school in Sept so we are down to just my income, and we are saving for our baby - which will hopefully be 'in the oven' soon. We are on a budget for sure! And it's fun searching for gifts that would be useful/meaningful in thrift stores! It's like a treasure hunt! lol
As for family, we are doing wedding photos - mini albums or scrapbooks for our parents, and framed photos for siblings. (We can find frames at thrift stores too!) We are sending out pics in Christmas cards to our BP as well.
Well, DH's birthday is next Tuesday, so I'm currently struggling with what to get him for that. Haha. He always wants video games, so that's always a pretty safe bet for me. Honestly, that's really all he's ever asked for in 6 Christmases and birthdays together! However, I'm thinking of doing the video games for his birthday, and getting him a home brewing kit for Christmas, along with some clothes and other little things. He's wanted to brew his own beer for a while, and there's a store in our town that carries some really nice home brew kits.
If I could have anything I wanted for Christmas, I would have a honeymoon. But since I know that's not going to happen... I don't want to get my hopes up. I would also really like an authentic Aaron Rodgers jersey and a new pair of Buckle jeans. Jewelry is always nice, too. I think we'll have to set a cap this year, which we've never really done in the past. But since we both have full-time jobs, we have a little more money than we used to before.
Be careful with this! DH does this as his hobby. He has gone from a simple home brew kit to a full blown brewery! It has consumed our entire basement!
Haha! I can see this easily happening with my DH, but he's been wanting to do it for so long. Good news for us, we don't really have enough room in our basement for this to happen.
