Kind of early but ... NYE plans?

I'm trying to figure out what to do for NYE. I know it's still kind of early but last year my NYE sucked and I want to have fun this year. My kids are really too little to be up until midnight so my plans don't have to be kid friendly, however I'm not ruling out just having a smaller party here at the house where the kids could stay. Oh and I'm not looking to get wasted or anything, just want to feel like a grown up for one night and have fun.

Anyone know anything going on in Toledo? Anything you've done in the past that was fun?

Re: Kind of early but ... NYE plans?

  • I generally have the most fun when I get together with friends at one of our houses and have some snacks/drinks, play games, watch the countdown, etc.   No plans set for this year yet, but hopefully it will be something like that. :)

We did the big party at a hotel thing one year and it was a complete disaster and waste of $$.  Could have just been that particular party, but I highly doubt I'd go to one again.

  • We usually meet up with our friends for dinner and then hang out at their house playing card games and eating snacks all night.  Euchre is always our favorite, and depending on how many people you have, you could have a tournament or something.  If you have a lot of people, Apples to Apples is a fun game as well.  I don't really know of anything much going on in Toledo.  I went downtown one year (2000), but it was pretty much a bust.  Good luck planning!  :)

  • We did the whole hotel party in the past too, and were less than impressed. My kids probably won't be seeing their dad this year...so we don't know what we're going to do.  We may just invite some family and friends over for a mini-party.

  • We have welcomed the New Year with our friends J&J since 2004!  This will be our 7th New Year's celebrating all together!  We don't plan on spending NYE with any other group of people at all in the foreseeable future.  We play RockBand, usually having bands compete against eachother with some bet on the line, and we've all come up with a lot of regular games that have been converted to drinking games over the past 6 years.  We have started rotating who hosts the party, and this year our friend M wants to try doing "Minute to Win It" with teams.  No matter what we do, it's the best time.  There's no other group we'd rather celebrate with, no matter the occasion. :)
