We finally had Will back to a normal sleep schedule and he was going to bed without struggles...then the last few nights he started chewing through his pacifiers. Hello choking hazard. So tonight they're gone and it's almost 11 and he's been fighting us for 3 hours.

Ugh! I do not remember that weekend with fondness. If it helps, day 1 was TERRIBLE, day two sucked big time, but by day three, I was all "we can do this!"
I hope it gets better soon. Before you know it, he won't even notice.
I'm so sorry noisy. I am sure it is hard. When I took away Ryker's swaddle it was really rough the first couple of days and then he adjusted. I hope it is the same.
Is there some way you could do like a "pacifier fairy" thing? maybe if he gives it up for something in return he will adjust better?
Did he take his pacifier from the start? Dagger is back and forth with it and I am curious if it changes over time.
That's funny Kristen. We did the paci fairy thing, and he put the paci outside last night and then this morning he had a new toy. He went to sleep shortly after I posted this last night, so if we go under 3 hours tonight I'll consider it a success. I'm dreading naptime today though.
Winged - he's used it off and on since six weeks. He went through a particularly fussy period around 3 months where he started taking it all the time to sleep though, and it just stuck after that. He only used it to sleep, but pretty much the only time he wouldn't sleep with it was when he accidentally fell asleep in the car.
Thanks for the encouragement, it definitely helps. I know last night was probably the worst.
Ethan's the exact opposite. He won't sleep with it, but he's starting to want it when just sitting around in the evenings. My kid is weird. I hope it goes better tonight, Noisy.
We force the paci on Owen because he shows thumb sucking inclinations and I'd rather take away the paci (as the pedi suggested) than try to get rid of thumb sucking. Of course, he'll probably take up with the thumb when we ditch the paci.
Speaking of, there's a 1 year old in our music class that sucks her thumb. Maggie was watching her do it and decided to try it herself, but all she did was make a fist and punch herself in the mouth over and over. She didn't get that the thumb was extended. It was pretty funny.
