What do you do if you're an active family? I lived in Denver for a short time and it was natural to go mountain climbing but what I do around here? Thanks girls!
Re: Active Families ....
I assume you mean outdoor activities?
- Mountain bike riding on all the trails around here (husband is from Denver and really enjoys this)
- Learn to surf in Lake Michigan
- Hiking
- EcoTrek Fitness classes (http://www.ecotrekfitness.com/)
- Snowshoeing
- Kayaking
etc.....
Ice skating
Cross country skiing
Swimming
Great suggestions above. I'll add roller blading.
We love walking/running around Reed's Lake. This is the best time of year to go IMO. White Pine Trail is pretty neat. It runs all the way to Cadillac and is completely paved. We often ride our bikes from Belmont to Rockford, get ice cream and head back. There are also tons of smaller hiking trails in the area. Here are a couple resources/maps:

Cannonsburg and Pando are local skiing spots, but you'll want to head up north for some bigger ski hills. Hope this helps!
I didn't get a chance to really look at these sites, however here are some trail listings. It looks like the first site should be good.

Be sure to check out Pure Michigan's website www.michigan.org for ideas on stuff to do.
I like the White Pine Trails that goodgolile mentioned. There is also the Kent Trails. Yankee Spring Trails has some good mountain biking. That is a state recreation area.
Michigan has some nice state parks. You can now pay a $10 annual fee when you get your car registration and that is good for all state parks.
