I think I'm losing my mind...

First off we have problems with the walls in our upstairs bathroom sweating when it gets hot because its sorta closed off. Over the weekend they started sweating again so HH asked me to leave the fan on when I left for work yesterday so the walls could dry out really good. I swear I turned it on before I walked out the door yesterday. When I came home yesterday evening the fan was turned off and the other light switch was turned on. I figured my sister who had come down while we were gone to use our internet had heard it running and turned it off. Well I just talked to her and she said she didn't go upstairs... Its possible I didn't hit the right switch in my hurry to leave but I swear I did. Maybe our ghost (who I've named Lily lol) turned it off? I think I'm just losing it lol

  • Walls can sweat?

  • Yes unfortuneatly. This bathroom doesn't have good ventilation so if it gets warm enough condensation starts forming on the walls and ceiling. It was even on the molding around the door the other night.

  • Sounds like you could use a small dehumidifier.
  • Ditto the dehumidifer. I have one in my basement level office here at work and it's crazy how much water it sucks out of the air during humid summer days.

  • The dehumidifier is a really good idea, thanks girls!

  • My last rental house had terrible ventilation like that, when you would take a shower every window in the entire house would fog up, there was always condensation on all of the windows... the walls weren't too bad though. But the windows and window sills would get moldy from all of the moisture! Then I'd have to go around and bleach all of the mold. Which is why I call it "the moldy house" haha.
