Mopping Question

I know I'm new to the boards but I have an issue about mopping. I genuinely hate to do it. It's the worst chore ever. I have used a regular sponge mop and a swiffer and I hate them both. Anyone use anything else that may work better? Anyone try one of those steam mops? Would love any feedback.

Re: Mopping Question

  • What is it about the Swiffer and traditional mopping that you don't like?  Is it just the idea of doing it?  I only ask because while steam mops are great, it's the same method as the other 2.  You may just not like mopping and may not like any form of it!

Personally, I like steam mops...they work great, they sanitize and clean well.  The swiffer is nice for quick little messes but it doesn't clean that well and regular mops are just gross.  I find the old-fashioned way of doing it (on your hands and knees with vinegar/water solution) works the best.  But it's a chore and a pita!

  • I really like the bona system, there are two options, a mop and spray bottle method and a mop and dispenser like a swiffer mop. But like the PP said, mopping is mopping and if you  hate the activity then you're going to hate it in any form.

  • I hate mopping because I don't feel my floor gets clean enough with a swiffer and it seems to dull the tile.  And like you said, sponge mops are gross. I think I will try the old tried and true hands and knees/vinegar and see how that makes my floors look. If not, I am buying a steam mop. Thanks for the help!!

  • I was just wondering what the ratio of water and vinegar are when using to clean the floor.  I am always looking for a new cleaning solution!  Also do you just use a sponge to clean or something else?  Thanks so much
