Best way to keep fruit & veggies on counter?
I like to keep my onions, tomatoes, avacadoes, bananas, and apples out of the refrigerator because I feel like they retain their flavor and nutrition at room temp (albeit, also much quicker to decay...but we eat a lot of fruits and veggies here).
Any ideas on the best way to store them? I have a couple of bowls, but my counter is looking cluttered.

What about a two-tiered fruit basket like this?
Sorry about the pic failure! But anyways, it's a cute two tiered fruit basket from Crate & Barrel!
I checked Crate & Barrel's site...thanks! The two-tiered option is a good idea.... I still think I have more produce than will fit that basket though... :-/
P.S. Hilarious pic of your pupster on the float-raft.
Thanks!
I have a 3-basket hanging setup.
I had to mount the actual hangar part onto the cabinet, then the basket hangs off that.
It keeps things off the counter (less clutter) and looks pretty when relatively full. I have put in more weight than it could hold and it crashed, but DH got it fixed. I like to keep a few onions and garlic in the top, and fruits on the bottom. I guess I could hang 2, but that might be too much in the kitchen. I just usually keep the excess in the frig and get out a few more things at a time to finish ripening.
I guess you could use hanging baskets if you have a big enough pantry. Back in the day, didn't they kept things in the cellar.
Even in TX I don't have fruit flies.
I have the same problem also. Seems like they come before the fruit has even relatively come close to going bad (I buy my fruits under ripe so they last longer).
