My MIL will be here in a few hours....

She is moving in with us. No, not permanently!!!!

The daughter is pretty sick still. I did pack her off to school this morning because she is supposed to be starting a new class/program and they have a huge performance next week so I figured if she can stand up, she can go to school. Poor thing. In all honesty, I keep waiting for the call from the school to come get her, but so far she is sticking it out. What a trooper.

Anyway, MIL is coming tonight so she can stay with her while we are at the hospital tomorrow, and however long afterward we need her. That way the daughter is in her own space, in her own bed, and her routine and school aren't interrupted. Sure it means I have to make up the family room into a guest bedroom, but seriously- 15 minutes of work is nothing for the peace of mind. Ya know?

I am very pleased with myself for inviting MIL over. It's hard for me to "accept" things from her and she keeps offering to help. I have no idea why, it isn't like she is a bad person or I don't trust her or anything. And she totally sticks to the house rules and is super respectful. Of all people she is the one I should be asking. So I got over my whatever-the-hell-it-is (insecurity? bias? stupidity?) and asked for help. I actually feel rather relieved she is coming, instead of feeling apprehensive like I thought I would. A bit nervous, but then this is the first time she will be staying over so I figure that is normal.

Re: My MIL will be here in a few hours....

  • Everything will be fine!

My sister does the same thing with...everyone. As far as not asking for help. With her, she likes having control...even when she needs the help, she is hesitant to ask people. She doesn't like to put people out (9 times out of 10, she is not).

    Silly!

    How are you feeling?

  • That sounds like a great plan and your MIL sounds wonderful! I'm glad you were able to accept her help and I am sooooo excited for tomorrow!!!!!!!   :)

  • In general, still tired as all get out. Can't get comfy so I am not sleeping well. Surprisingly, I am not at all nervous. If anything, I am just so sick of waiting I want to hurry up and get to it.

Jos is starting to get a batch of nerves. Perhaps because I keep tormenting him "this is the last night that crib will be empty, this is the last night it will be just you and me sleeping in this room, this is the last night before you have a helpless life depending on you for everything, this is the last night before a little piece of you is brought into the world."

Yeah, I am evil. Mu wah ha ha ha.

Bri got the "this is the last day of you being an only child." But that's about all I could come up for her. She asked if she could bring Floor into school for "show and tell". The instant visual I got on that one was her strapping the baby onto her bike rack. I suddenly started laughing. What a great mom, eh?

  • I think it will be a good thing that MIL is moving in, I'm sure it will all be ok and think of it as an extra person in the house to help with everything.

I love this.  Very glad your MIL is coming to help (and that you asked her!).  It will be great peace of mind for you to know that Bri's schedule can still go on as needed.  I hope you can find rest some way, some how.

  • I'm glad that your MIL is coming. It will be great having the extra help around the house. Plus you don't have to worry about your daughter while you're at the hospital. I really hope she gets better really soon!!
