Re: Pregnant Ladies...
It most definitely isn't MUD, but it is a cultural thing. It's crazy and should be MUD, one would think
.
First my first birthday, there were over a hundred people--and since there were two of us, there was double of a lot of stuff. Five foot pi?atas, a band, lots of gifts of gold jewelry and diamonds, and I don't know what else. Plus, hospitality for that many people adds up. I've seen the pictures to know my parents weren't exagerating (sp) when they told the story. Think of it as a party to build a child's dowry.
I agree with the ladies who responded that it was inappropriate to number drop, though, even though it is cultural. And, if you are doing good, you shouldn't need a pat on the back from internet strangers.
I'm quite sure Liam's first birthday will be cake with our family and close friends...not a $5,000 extravaganza. I can only imagine that might pay for a book or two by the time he gets to college.
