Hi Girls!!

Hey ladies!! I know I don't post much but I read lots of posts. I have a huge dilemma and I was wondering if you ladies might help get me some insight.

So here's my problem: I've been a nurse for 4 years on an oncology floor. The hospital is going through some financial trouble and they are closing a floor. Those girls from that floor had to chose other units to work on so I got bumped out of my position.  Now I'm confused. I don't know if I should bump someone out of their position so I can stay on my floor, or if I should just go to another floor??? I just feel bad for bumping someone but I love my floor and i'd love to stay.

Hope you girls can give me some help! Thanks ladies!!!

Re: Hi Girls!!

  • I'm guessing this is a seniority bump? If you love it so much, then stay. You have to do what's right for you.
  • So they're bumping YOU to make you go to another floor, but you have the opportunity to come back and bump someone else off of the original floor?

  • i know you feel bad and I would too but at the end of the day you have to do what is best for you and if it comes down to seniority and you've got it, then sorry girls.  :(  its a stinky situation.
  • I agree with everyone, and also curious if it's what Sara said.  Do what is right for you.  The person moving to your floor may not love oncology like you do.  I know I'd be pissed if some person bumped me so I had to go to gen med or something like that.  Especially if you're planning on getting your OCN and stuff.

  • So I got bumped out of my position and I can either go to another floor or stay on my floor and bump one of my co-workers positions. It's so confusing and tough!

Thanks for all the support and it's so true I have to do what is good for me at this point. I just feel so bad. I wish I was a little less emotional than I am, but maybe thats why I like oncology so much. Thanks girls!! I'll keep you updated on what decision I make.

  • Ultimately, it comes down to what YOU want.  Unfortunately, that's how it is out in the business world.  It's YOUR job.  Although it would suck to bump someone out of their position, it's your job that's going to be affected, either way.  Do you, girl!!!

    I think Becky's right.
