10% (or 12 people) just got laid off in my company today.
1 of was my colleague. 3 little girls, under the age of 9.

Being a manager has downfalls, and that is one of them. Now, being in the restaurant industry, we don't really lay off people, but it does suck sometimes when you have to fire someone that you like. Or when you know of their situation at home i.e. kids. Luckily, I've only had to fire three people and they were not tough decisions.
Yeah, it's never ever easy. I had to once also.
These decisions however came from our C-level execs. My Director didn't even know who they were going to lay off. I guess I had a 33% chance basically.
I hope he (coworker=he) finds a job soon.

No, implementation teams were easier per se- if they were not currently implementing= laid off.
other depts were more difficult. who knows what they used as criteria. I think maybe salary, impact/parts of ownership of the product maybe...thank goodness I am one of the sr. PMs.
