Selling old gold Jewelry

Has anyone sold any old jewelry for cash and can recommend a reputable place? I have seen a few news articles, but I am looking for places you gals have actually gone to. Thanks.

Re: Selling old gold Jewelry

  • We've gone to the castle and sold some of my broken chains, it was fast and easy (we went to the one in florence).
  • Go to several places for appraisals!  I went to 4 different places and got VERY different quotes.  The place in Kenwood that advertises on TV that they have the best prices (I think it's JS) were good but I ended up getting more.  They were a good starting point, though.  The next best quote was at Coins Plus.  I went to the one in Florence.  I think they offered about $75 more than JS.  Another small place offered me $100 less than JS.  I was on my way to sell it at Coins Plus and happened to see a "We Buy Gold" sign at an independent jewelry store called Boyle Jewelers in Erlanger and they beat Coins Plus.

I kept worrying about getting the most but I finally just pulled the trigger and sold it.  I was unemployed at the time and the extra $1000 was nice.  I had a bunch of gold chains that I bought in the early 90's!

  • I am on the west side so I was thinking American Trading Co off Colerain (always here their ads on radio), but I am seeing tons of other places.

  • I think American Trading did well in a Channel 9 undercover report, but it's been awhile since I read it.  I just recommend going to a couple different types of stores.  I was surprised that the independent jewelry store gave me the best quote.  Good luck!
  • Selling jewelry can be quite overwhelming and most important factor when you are looking to sell jewelry. Last month when I was looking to sell my old diamond ring, I was faced with the same conundrum. I was really afraid that the jewelers might try to rip me off by giving me a twisted evaluation of my jewelry. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the jewelry buyers I approached. They seemed knowledgeable and gave me a very satisfactory assessment of my ring. I found out that they had received training from GIA, so I felt at ease with the transaction. I found their website while surfing the Internet ? it?s called Fabon5th.com. Check it out! You can talk to them on (212) 557-4888 if you are interested.
