Turning on furnace

How cold do you let it get inside your house before you give in and turn on the furnace?

(Yes, I realize that some of you are probably still running your A/C. Smile)

Re: Turning on furnace

  • We are going to wait as long as possible this year.  We figure we can wear layers and keep warm with blankets.  I have no idea what temp it will be though.  It's still warm here, the lowest we have seen is in the 50s at night.
  • I have never seen a furnace, other than on tv. Stick out tongue
  • We don't have a furnace but we set our heater to 68. That might go up once Lucie arrives.
  • We're still running our AC. :) We don't have a furnace, but we usually wait as long as possible to turn our heater on (I want to say it gets turned on mid-Dec.), and I think we usually have it set around 58-62 (depends on how cold it is outside). I know that's pretty low, but I'm always hot (pregnant or not), so I like to keep it really cool. DH bundles it in layers (usually 2 pairs of sweatpants lol). This will be the last winter I can keep it that low though - NOT good for a baby next winter haha.

  • We've been having low's around 40 and the thermostat is reading about 68 degrees in the house. I haven't turned on the heat yet, but our bedroom upstairs is noticeably colder than downstairs where the thermostat is (since it's a finished attic it's not quite as well insulated), so I think the space heater up there is getting turned on VERY soon! It was so hard to get out of bed this morning because my blankie was so warm......
