ohhh Dad...

Backstory... when my sister was getting married (5 months before me), she was all set to get married in our home church which after several additions is really stark, spare, and not pretty but our childhood pastor was there and she loves him and wanted to get married by him.  At the last minute, the church changed it so that this new pastor would be marrying them.  Sister doesn't know him from Adam and if you are getting married by a complete stranger, why not get married in a prettier church??  She ended up finding a fabulous church and they had an amazing Pastor marry them and all was well.  In case of emergency, my Dad, who is a dentist (this becomes important later) got ordained online through the Universal Life church which, as I understand it, is sorta one of those "in the back of Rolling Stone" type deals.  It is, however, totally legit and he's registered with the state as a valid officiant. To make it "official" he decided he needed one of those black pastoral shirts with the white clerical collar too because if you're gonna talk the talk, you've gotta walk the walk too so to speak.

One day, he was talking with his dental product rep about how he had this officiant license and someday when he retires, he could just go into the wedding biz.  He felt like a pro with back to back events in one year.  The dental rep jokingly asked my Dad to officiate at the wedding for his fiancee and himself when they decided to get around to tying the knot.  Well, they're tying the knot!  They called up my Dad and asked him to officiate at their wedding in the same botanical garden DH and I got married in!

Now, my dad is analyzing our wedding video so that he knows where is best for him to stand because the sun shines in the bride's eyes (unfortunately) and is taking pointers on what to say.  What a goofball! I would love to be a fly on the wall to hear what he ends up saying at this event.  Big Smile
