Dang Karma...

If I wasn't so afaid of it, this would have been awesome.  I was a 2-dress bride and have recently been trying to sell the first one that I never used.  I've had it listed on once wed and this girl has been emailing me back and forth for several weeks. Her fiance was going to be paying for the dress for her, I agreed to accept personal check as long as she understood I would not ship the dress until the check actually cleared. Cool.

I get the check in the mail today. Via UPS. The asking price of the dress was $450.00, including the veil.  The check was written to me for $1,745.40.  Hmmm....This was an obvious error and as much as I really want to run to the bank and cash this baby...I emailed her instead to verify which address to return the check to.

:(  Karma can suck it.

Re: Dang Karma...

  • sounds like one of those scams....theyll ask you to send the extra money somewhere else and the bank will clear the check adn then like 10 days later figure out it was a fraud thing and then make YOU pay that 1700 back. so you're doubly screwed.

cancel the whole deal....its bad news.

  • Ha...I already told them I will not cash the check...so I think at this point I just may demand they get a Paypal account and do it that way or they can go suck it!

Thanks Kim...I hadn't even thought about those scams until you mentioned it.

  • Yep...it was just a scam!  They emailed back already that I could go ahead and cash the check, mail them the dress, and send back any additional balance via money gram.

She needed me to do this ASAP as the fiance just left for a business trip and would be gone for 2 whole weeks and she couldn't wait til he got back.

I responded for her to kiss my derriere...

Thanks for the heads up on that!  The last email made it very obvious it was a phony.

  • Knowing that you didn't fall for the scam, I think the karma was actually on your side!

  • So glad you didn't cash the check! I was trying to sell my textbooks online and the same thing happened. "I am willing to pay $50 (was asking 25) if you will ship it to me in England.. Makes it hard to sell anything online!

     Have you tried Ebay?
